When I was ticketed for OWI just over a year ago, I was convinced the situation I was facing was hopeless. Though I tested at barely over the legal limit, everything I had read online and everyone I was talking to only made me more dour and certain that my license would be suspended in a few short w...eeks and my life would be totally turned upside down. For starters, my employment/career depends on maintaining a safe/clean driving record, and even though I was a first time offender, that would not exclude me from an immediate suspension of driving privileges--and the drunk driving conviction would remain part of my permanent record for life. My case took close to two years, and Mr. Melowski kept me informed throughout the entire time. Make no mistake, without his expertise, I would have been a person with a jail record, serving time in an environment in which I could not have existed. I am a retired family man in my late 60's, held a responsible work position for 40 years and had a spotless driving record. The day I was charged, I made a terrible mistake and I choose to drive while I was impaired. Facing a serious charge of OWI causing an injury, in addition to a BAC of over .15, I was stunned and devastated. We sought the help of a family member who was a lawyer. Prior to the sentencing, Dennis wrote an amazing letter to the judge voicing reasons and pleading for the probation itself to be reduced. On the day of sentencing, he pleaded my case and I as well gave a heartfelt statement to the court. The judge told me I was extremely lucky to have such a great lawyer on my side. He then reduced my sentence further and threw out the probationary period as well...a double victory. Dennis' reputation is well deserved. He has my highest respect not only as a lawyer but as a person.
