She furthered her education by majoring in English at the University of Florida, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990. Relocating to Rochester Hills, Michigan, Courtney pursued her passion for law at Wayne State University Law School, obtaining her Juris Doctorate in 1995. Married to George Jay Quist, a respected Kent County Circuit Court Judge, Courtney balances her professional life with a nurturing family environment. They have a son, Jonathan Quist, who recently graduated from Grand Valley State University and is set to pursue a law degree in Fall 2025, following in his parents' footsteps.
