Strong, intelligent, and no BD

Colleen was amazing during my court duration. Always available and on time, she handled everything and was blunt and honest throughout each step. It was nice having someone in her profession who I felt I could have an open conversation with no matter how nitty gritty the details were. She is always p...repared and does not let anyone walk over her or her clients. If I even have any other legal issues she will be my go to.

Got the Job done

I hired Colleen to do an adoption for me and it was completed successfully, couple of sloppy staff paperwork issues that I had to pay for but hey it is what it is and I understand that. She did a good job. Since that time I have referred multiple people over, with one that I know for sure that wen...t through with hiring her, it was a divorce that was handled very well. Over a thousand dollars spent and thousands of dollars in at least one referral that I know of for sure. You would of thought with that type of relationship as a valued customer I would have afforded me a two (2) minute conversation with Colleen for one (1) question on a matter. That was definitely not the case when I called, I was told very mater-of-factually by Katie that even though I am 90 minutes away that I had to schedule an appointment and pay the $185.00 for an hour consult just like everyone else. It was like I was asking for special treatment or something? No just excellent customer service. The sad thing is, if Colleen would have told me, "you know what, you should come down this is something that can't be done in 2 minutes and we should go over it" I would have happily set the appointment and paid. It's unfortunate and it just rubs you the wrong way. In my line of work business is about relationships and I was under the impression that after you work with someone and bring them business you were a valued customer or at least appreciated. That is not the case here. It is very disappointing that her practice, staff or whoever doesn't value continued relationships, and if it is not her, it definitely reflects poorly on her. It is costing her future business. As I said good attorney and took care of business. So if you want someone to get in and get the job done and move on she is great. Skills are top notch, somewhere something is just lacking, that extra level of customer support that maybe the larger firms have, I don't know, it was just disappointing when you call you get treated that way. In the three (3) hours since with a two (2) minute phone call with another attorney I have found out that the minor issue did need some attention, I have made an appointment with that attorney and will be hiring that attorney. Business is all about Relationships, at least to some it is. No need to reply. A reply doesn't change the experience. Good luck.

TJ I apologize for any poor treatment you received. I value very much the relationships I have with my clients. Although there was obviously behavior that offended you, I hope you know that I wish you the best and hope that you and your family successfully get through what ever is before you at this time. Good luck.

The lawyer to go to for family law - Honest, Trustworthy, Accessible and Aggressive in winning the case

When I had to fire my first lawyer for not having my best interests in my case I had zero faith in the legal system or a lawyer. I went to Colleen and she was like a breath of fresh air. She tells me the truth about my case and what I should do even when it's not what I want to hear. She is accessibl...e when I call or she calls me back, instead of the last firm where all the advice I got was sent to me through the legal assistant. She bills me honestly and fairly for her time. She displays thorough knowledge of all areas of child custody/divorce. She is aggressive in the court room and does not back down to shady lawyers. One of the things I really liked about her is that she would try to resolve things before going to court when possible, instead of pushing for court to bill extra time like other lawyers do. My court case was a tough one with an ex who retained a shady lawyer and takes me to court constantly. Colleen has fought against them agressively and saved me thousands of dollars by not allowing frivilous items to go to court. I have recommended Colleen to friends of mine because I believe she is the best lawyer in the area and they too have been happy with her representation.

Fantastic

Prior to picking a lawyer for my divorce, I had met with two other lawyers before meeting with Colleen Markou. During that first meeting I knew that Colleen was the person that I wanted to represent me. We discussed the background of what lead up to the divorce and she was more interested in my con...cerns of child custody than going over fees (like the other two lawyers I met with did). It was because of her genuine concern for my best interests and willingness to listen to what I was saying that I hired Colleen that day. Throughout the case, Colleen was respectful, prepared, and prompt especially when trying to get information and edits back from my ex-wife’s attorney. There was more than one occasion where things were stalled and Colleen always found a way to keep moving forward. Colleen did not allow things to drag out and pushed my ex-wife’s attorney for answers on issues that we were trying to resolve, especially around child custody. Colleen is a huge advocate of equal parenting time. The one thing that stands out for me the most about Colleen is that she was personally involved with the case from beginning to end and did not rely on her assistant (who by the way is also excellent) to take notes and edit the documents. Colleen would sit in her office with me and my marked up draft documents and we would get them completed immediately. Colleen Markou is a fantastic lawyer and I highly recommend her to anyone that is unfortunate enough to have to go through a divorce. After the divorce was final, I immediately hired Colleen to rework my “General Durable Power of Attorney”, “Living Will and Designation of Patient Advocate for Care, Custody, and Medical Treatment Decisions”, “Last Will and Testament”, and “Trust Agreement”. These were all finished within a short period of time with the same integrity that Colleen consistently demonstrated during my divorce case.
