Mot what you would expect.

First let me say that I view attorneys as car salesmen. That said I got into a pretty serious issue early 2019. And I was referred to Jay. Initially when I called Jay I was not confident to say the least. Then I met Jay and was fairly impressed. he talked a big game yet shot me straight and gave me ...all the scenarios on how this could play out. But then it changed fast. I was very depressed and not in my right state of mind when all this was going on. One day I emailed Jay and was very stressed. I figured he would email me back and give me a line of attorney jibirish. No. He called me, he said where are you? I said I am at home. He said I am on my way man calm down. We met up minutes later and my mind was forever changed. This man showed up and just sat with me. Did we talk about the case? Not really. He just showed up and calmed me down. By the time he left I went from crying to laughing. The man literally cared. At that bottom of the barrel moment in my life someone actually cared. Did he bill me? Nope. Did he forget me after that instance? Nope. Did he do the same thing several times over the course of 8 months? Yes. He did without hesitation and never requested compensation. He just legitimately gave a crap about what I was going through. While in court he was very respectful to all involved. he wasnt the cocky arrogant attorney that I expected the average attorney to be. At the same time he was EXTREMELY calculated and tactful. He DESTROYED every aspect of everything that was thrown against me and I can promise you what I went through was one of the worst things you could EVER go through. At the end of the day the case was dismissed. With my circumstances could any attorney of had the same result? I don't know, maybe. But would I of made it through the process? No. I 100% would not of made it through what I was going through without having Jay being there for me. He not only saved me from the false accusation he saved me from myself. I will truly be forever in debt to Jay. I feel that we get into situations and feel that things should just work out. The Justice system will just work its magic for you because you are the rare innocent person and everyone will see that. I can say first hand that's truly not the case. Our system is broken. It always has been and always will be. So it is extremely important to have someone that legitimately cares about what you are going through. Attorneys have so many cases and so much to do that it's easy for them to loose focus and even easier for them to just 50% it and move onto the next client. Not Jay. If you need a GREAT attorney. Forget that. If you need the BEST attorney call Jay Clothier.

Not professional, horrible experience

He was not prepared in the court room and ultimately did nothing to help me. He was self-righteous and cocky, never sitting down to listen to my concerns or comments because he was "so busy". He broke confidentiality with me and it ended up being a disaster. To top it all off, the sentencing location... had been changed and he never notified me. So i showed up at the wrong location making me late for my sentencing in another city because of him. Horrible experience!

Review

I received a DUI back in 2008!! Because it was my 3rd, I had to hire an attorney as I was facing a possible felony and prison time!! He told me that a fee for this type of offense was $3,500! I paid him $3,000 up front and told him I would pay the rest after this nightmare was over!! He was under my ...employ for almost 8 months!! He kept gettin g my trial dates adjourned, never once calling me to inform me of this!! I was attending college during this period and actually had to miss an exam to go to court only to find that my date had been adjourned!! I never heard one word from him!! When my plea date came, I met him there and he didn't even advise me how to plea so I entered a guilty plea and went to my sentencing 2 weeks later! Again, he made no contact with and never returned my calls!! I was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 90 days at "New Paths!" He didn't advise or speak for me and appeared intimidated by the judge!!

"Look Elsewhere" is Right

Myself, my children, as well as my case as a whole, were blatantly not priorities. The only thing I should have taken from the initial consultation is his explanation as to how busy he is. He was not even my lawyer, someone else from his office was, and I wasn't made aware of that until a half an ho...ur before leaving for court. It would've been nice to know who my real lawyer was going to be before going to court, or, here's a thought, before I handed over my retainer. They showed up to court nauseatingly unprepared, and no one took the time to prepare me, either! I mean, this was my children and my finances that I was dealing with. Take heed to what the person who posted, "Look Elsewhere", said. They are exactly right. I didn't retain a lawyer just to have someone else in my life play games with me, and make me feel terrible for trying to communicate. I doubt you are either. There are a multitude of lawyers in the area for you to choose from; "Look Elsewhere."

Look Elsewhere

Hired Jay for a child custody case. First, he did not do as he stated that he would during our consultation. He talked the talk but when it came time didn't walk the walk. I told him what I wanted, what the papers were to say and Jay just didn't listen, did the minimal effort and did it half ass. Sec...ond, he never kept me informed of my case. I had to call continuously and once I finally got to speak with him, he was rude and brought up personal matters of his life why he didn't return my phone calls. I don't care about your personal life. This is your job. This is what I paid you to do. People at my job do not care about my personal life, they want the work done. Which brings me to my last point, he NEVER returns phone calls. I have called three times in two weeks and still haven't received a phone call back. You will literally have to call him multiple times to get him to call you back. I would suggest looking elsewhere. Jay tells you what you want to hear but doesn't come through. Just talks a lot of game.
