MIP

We hired Johnathon Paul to represent our daughter for an MIP. He was able to shorten the probation period for her and helped to alleviate her stress by his thorough explanation of the law and in turn gave her proactive steps to resolve the issue and move forward. It was a great learning experience fo...r her and set her on the right path to move ahead. We highly recommend him and are grateful for his services.

Provided a clear path

After I contacted him via email during the weekend, he replied immediately and asked for detail. After a few emails on that day, he asked me if I am willing to allow him to represent my son. My son was charged with "breaking and entering without owners permission". He and his friends had used the pla...ce to smoke weed. Once the case was taken up by him, he immediately sent me an email with what should be done. He also assured that his aim is to make sure that my son will not have anything in his records when the whole thing is over. We followed his advice, and my son was put on the minimum amount of probation with nothing to be done during probation period.

Retail Fraud

My 17yo son was arrested for shoplifting (first offense). I spoke to some friends and family that stated to just plead my case to the prosecutor and judge and hope for the best. Because I do not know the language and process of the court system I felt it better to find someone that does. After sea...rching the internet and making several calls my son and I decided to hire Mr. Paul. The goal set by Mr. Paul was to have my son complete 25 hours of community service, weekly CASA meetings, 4 hour online class, and personal counseling before going to court. Even though my son agreed to the process it was challenging at times to keep him engaged in the plan. On our first trip to court, the arraignment, Judge Jennifer Coleman Hesson ruled my son had completed everything she would have ordered and sentenced him to her minimum of 6 months of probation. My son also qualifies for the HYTA program. Attorney Jonathan Paul's experience allowed my son to get the least amount of punishment for his crime with only one trip to court. The crime will not show on his record if he successfully completes his probation. My son and I are so glad we decided to obtain a lawyer, especially Jonathan Paul. I am hopeful this will be the last time my son will appear before any judge. Jonathan's program worked.

The MIP Savior

John knows exactly the right steps to take with an MIP case. It takes a decent amount of work on your end, but the result is no MIP on your record, period. He saved me from a world of hurt, he can save you too.

Jonathan Paul is a true gentleman and professional

My son had found himself in trouble and we determined that we needed an attorney. Jonathan was quick to meet with us and treated us with curtesy and respect. He was understanding, compassionate and honest about the reality of the situation. He gave my son a specific, measurable, attainable, relevant ...and time-bound program to follow. It was not easy but really gave my son a sense of accomplishment when done. Jonathan was available for questions and updates at all times throughout this journey and in the end we achieved an outcome that was not only fair but will protect my son from having a criminal history at the age of 17. Thank you Jonathan for being the only one to care during the most frightening and devastating time my son and I were going through.

"When I first met John, he was beating me up as a prosecutor. When I heard John became a defense attorney, I was elated for two reasons, first that I wouldn't have to go against him any more, and two, that anybody charged with a crime an Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County have an exceptional criminal defense attorney who gets the job done. As a defense attorney, John uses his extensive experience to craft solutions to tough cases. As a fellow defense lawyer, I rely on John's advice in my own cases. If you are in Ann Arbor and are in trouble, call John, he will help you."
