Born Brian Joseph Prain, I was raised in the Southeast area of Michigan. Â I love and enjoy Michigan and plan on making it my permanent home.
Â
The first home I remember was in Farmington Hills.  By about age thirteen, I had become an accomplished local artist and was enjoying my friends and social network when all of a sudden my parents decided to move the family to a small sleepy town... 'South Lyon. 'Â
Â
I remember the move being tough and uncomfortable as I left  many good friends and good times behind. I struggled finding my new footing as I began the process of starting over again.Â
Â
Academically, I have always distinguished myself throughout Grade School, High School and while attending Michigan State University. Â
Â
After graduating MSU with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science/Prelaw, I applied for and accepted an academic scholarship to attend Michigan State University College of Law (formerly the Detroit College of Law, a school of much local acclaim). Â
Â
While attending Law School, I supplemented my education with many Court related activities, including defending the accused while working with the Washtenaw County Office of Public Defender, and fighting for the "Little Guy" at the Law Offices of Shelton & Associates, PLLC. Â
Â
It was there where I had the chance to experience everything from working with clients, to writing lengthy briefs to the Court of Appeals, to spending time in Court watching the process and my associates at work within the legal system. Â It soon became obvious to me...Trial Law was my calling.Â
Â
Working hard and constantly observing, I learned that to be a great lawyer and to truly be successful, you need to be the person 'calling the shots' and organizing the process - not the passive attorney playing it safe within the rules of protocol at some fancy-named law firm. Â Â
Â
Getting through Law School was challenging, but in the end I achieved excellent grades, received a valuable education, and (equally important), earned the respect and admiration of both my professors and my peers. Â
Â
Shortly after graduating from Law School, I passed the Michigan Bar Exam  (on my first try) and instantly The Law Office of Brian J. Prain, PLLC was born.
Â
Throughout my entire life I have always been a champion for the underdog.
Â
Perhaps because often, as a child, I was the underdog. Â At age seven, I was much smaller than others my age. My parents, worried that my being physically smaller than my peers might negatively affect me, decided to enroll me into a martial arts program. Â
Â
My parents believed emphatically in "standing up for one's self'"and always encouraged and supported me to do my best and make my mark... regardless of any challenges life threw my way. Â
Â
They instinctively knew that if I could become highly effective and confident at defending myself, I would not suffer from low self-esteem. Â And so, with raw determination, I pressed on perfecting my martial arts skills and soon became the youngest Black Belt recipient in the statewide association.Â
Â
Happily, I also found myslef the frequent winner of many Martial Arts contests, often defeating trained opponents... much larger than I.Â
Â
Those early lessons taught me that to overcome obstacles it was much more important to throughly prepare and completely understand and define the challenge before me. Â Then, and only then, can one determine the best path for the desired outcome. Â
Â
Another benefit I gained from my martial arts study was disipline, a charactistic which has remained a core pillar in my ability to achieve high degrees of performance and execution. Â That discipline, coupled with my strong sense of belief and commitment, have helped to guide my law practice each and everyday.Â
Â
Winning begins with belief and ends with committment.Â
Â
Focused on my natural talents and abilities, I drew upon my determination to be the best of breed in all my endevers. I remained laser focused on my objectives. Â I always do what I say I'm going to do.Â
Â
My practice is 100% Criminal Defense, focusing on Assault and Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) cases.Â
Â
I don't represent big business.  Rather, I'm commited to fighting for the everyday residents of Main Street; the "Little Guy."  I kow what it means to struggle - that's why I know that  to truly win for you I can give nothing less than my very best efforts.
Â
I Basically walked out of school and into the Court room. When you go at it that way, you learn some things that many lawyers never learn throughout their entire careers. Â
Â
Albeit a young practice, I have already had many clients personally thank me for the intense level of work product I generated for their case, as well as for sticking my neck out and standing up to the system for them. That is my promise to you... and for good reason... it's in my DNA. I can't help but do it every time. Â
Â
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to earn your business.Â
