To Those Accused, I STRONGLY recommend Todd Kaluzny to represent you in matters of criminal law in Michigan. I myself, being a victim of home invasion in another state, purchased a pistol to defend myself in the home. At a routine traffic stop near my apartment in Rochester, I immediately d...isclosed to the Deputy having this firearm in my vehicle. Not having gotten my CPL yet, I was arrested and charged with a FELONY of concealed carry! Suffice it to say, and I had no defense against these charges. My case was assigned to district court 52-3. Everyone from the guys in jail, to the police, to a variety of attorneys told me I was before one of the toughest courts, and one of the most unforgiving judges in the state. Fearing the blindness of justice, and the sword, I sought out six attorneys; all of them advising me the situation could get nasty. Some of these attorneys seemed disinterested, some too busy for my case, and some had outrageous fees I simply could not afford; I was honestly in despair. A friend recommended Todd. He seemed the best choice because of his focus on criminal law, more than 20 years experience, and previous experience as a criminal prosecutor in Michigan. In addition, his father is a criminal defense attorney, so I reasoned he would have a good advisor if necessary. In the course of things Todd always had patience for numberless questions, always answered the phone & was immediately available, and was always on time to court and meetings. He never sugar coated the situation, but also showed the optimism we could get my charges reduced to a misdemeanor. The prosecutor agreed to a reduction, and after presenting the facts of the incident & mitigating circumstances to the judge, she remarked "Mr. Kaluzny your word is always good in this courtroom, and I want to move immediately to sentencing, giving the minimum sentence of a $100 fine". I was SO relieved! Afterwards, waiting at the clerk's window, two of Todd's colleagues who were present in the courtroom congratulated us on achieving the surprise leniency from this judge.
