also known as Nicole Blank Becker, Michigan Criminal Sexual Conduct Lawyer
Nicole Blank Becker, Founding Attorney, Blank Law, PC
Who I Am
I earned my J.D. from Wayne State University and have spent the last 25 years practicing Michigan criminal defense, with my work focused almost entirely on Criminal Sexual Conduct allegations and related internet-based sexual offenses. As the founding attorney of Blank Law, PC, I represent people in the highest-pressure moments of their lives through aggressive motion practice, disciplined investigation, and meticulous trial preparation. Before starting my firm, I served in the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office as Chief of the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Units, an experience that allows me to anticipate the government’s approach and challenge it when the proof does not hold.
What I Do
My practice includes pre-charge representation, bond and arraignment strategy, suppression and evidentiary litigation, expert-driven case development, and trial. Because many cases turn on digital forensics, I work closely with specialists on devices, cloud data, communications, and interview reliability. I also push early for discovery that reveals contamination, bias, or gaps in the state’s theory. Clients work directly with me and receive a clear plan from day one—what to say, what not to say, and how we build leverage long before a jury is seated.
High-Profile Matters
I have worked on nationally watched sex-crimes prosecutions, including serving on R. Kelly’s defense team during federal proceedings that drew worldwide attention. That environment demands precise motion practice, credibility analysis, and disciplined media management alongside courtroom strategy. In Michigan, I have represented public-facing professionals and handled cases that generated intense local coverage, where legal defense and reputational risk must be managed at the same time.
How My Prosecution Background Helps You
As a prosecutor—and specifically as Chief of the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Units—I trained prosecutors, detectives, and patrol officers on how these cases are built, including charging standards, interview protocols, CAC practices, and evidence development. That training was part of my government service, not my current practice, and it provides a blueprint I use today to challenge the state’s case, including exposing suggestive questioning, highlighting memory and contamination concerns, and identifying digital timelines that do not add up.
How I Build a Defense
Each case begins with a disciplined audit: forensic interviews and CAC records, device and account data, medical/SANE materials, school or workplace documents, and communications that define the timeline. From there, I pursue motions that matter—suppression litigation, 404(b) challenges, and expert-reliability issues—and I prepare every case for trial from day one so we never negotiate from a weak posture. The goal is constant: protect you, test every assertion, and force the state to meet its burden with reliable, admissible evidence.
Admissions, Credentials, and Recognition
I am admitted in Michigan and have handled cases across criminal courts throughout the state. I also hold federal admission in the Western District of Michigan and am a Certified Forensic Interviewer. My work has been recognized by attorney-rating platforms, including a 10/10 on Justia, 5-star client reviews, a Superb 9.8 rating on Avvo, and more than 60 five-star Google reviews with a 4.9-star overall rating.
Media and Public Commentary
Because my practice sits at the intersection of criminal defense, forensics, and high-profile cases, I am frequently asked to provide analysis for the public. I have given on-air and quoted commentary on major prosecutions and trafficking investigations, including commentary in 2025, and I maintain a hub of media segments and updates. Coverage and appearances include BBC, The Guardian, NPR, Fox News, FOX Business, CBS New York, OAN, AP Chicago, ABC Detroit, the Chicago Sun-Times, and USA Today.
