Samuel graduated from Oakland University in 2011, with a B.A. in Political Science with a concentration in Pre-Law. He earned his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 2014. During his time at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Samuel earned the Certificate of Merit in Trial Skills, which is awarded to the highest performing student. The following term Sam served as a teaching assistant, aiding students with trial preparation and strategy. He was also selected as a member of the National Mock Trial team for Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2014.

Samuel started his professional career as an intern in the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. He was assigned to the Child Abuse Unit and worked primarily on cases that involved sex offenses against children. As his focus at The Bennett Law Firm, PLC, this provides him with incredible insight into how prosecutors handle these types of cases. This is an incredibly sensitive area of the law and Samuel has what it takes to make you feel comfortable every step of the way.

Samuel represents individuals charged with misdemeanors and felonies throughout the State of Michigan, from Detroit to Grand Rapids, and Ferndale to Traverse City. In 2017 and 2018, he was selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Stars attorney, which is only awarded the top 2.5% of attorneys in the State of Michigan.

Exemplary attorney and fantastic person

I can’t thank Sam and his legal assistant, Rebecca enough for all of their hard work in helping me with my expungement case. Thanks to their efforts, I was granted a clean slate, which is an opportunity I never thought I’d have when I was charged and sentenced many years ago. Sam and Rebecca also treated me like a human being throughout the entire process, rather than a criminal. Sincere and Skillful

Sam is a sincere person and a sincere lawyer, as per my experience with him. He responds to your communications in a very reasonable time, typically within the hour. He takes time to listen to his client's description of events and makes sustained efforts to get a resolution, with what he is supplied with from the client, whether it is getting a dismissal before the trial or in trial. Coming to trial, he skillfully navigates through different witnesses in examination as well as cross examination of opposite party witnesses, objecting to improper questions from prosecutor's end and to bring out the facts to present an impactful defense. Specifically in my case, he was able to bring out the accuser's logical fallacies and get the focus of the judge to the bigger picture with events before and after the alleged incident, that completely changed the perspective of the allegation and the motive behind the allegation, leading the judge to see the truth of things. Ultimately, as a client, one must provide him with all the facts and do their own due diligence and as per my experience, Sam will come through. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

Very informative

Live in Northern Michigan (post case dismissed) no lawyer was willing to help and even disregard telling me there nothing you can do.( Have court order saying other wise as a new law had passed). I wouldn't give up and kept searching for a lawyer, I seen the ad for service all over Michigan. I called and it was a great decision. Everything was done over the phone and emails, I got information that no lawyer ever explained, even after the case was dismissed. With in a few months the issue was solved, life can continue with less stress

Competent lawyer/wonderful human being

I was arrested and put in jail for solicitation. Sam came to the jail and said he's here to help. I was overwhelmed with shame and remorse. Sam could see that and acted more like friend than a lawyer. Sam was incredibly encouraging and skilful in navigating the legal issues while also wanting to make sure I got the deeper issues addressed. Sometimes it takes a brick in the head to get our attention to address compulsive, habitual hang-ups. On a side note, I was also able to find wonderful professional help for my sexual addiction which I am extremely grateful for. For me, I couldn't imagine trying to navigate all these legal/criminal issues without Sam. He has a heart and compassion for the broken-hearted. Thought I was hiring a lawyer and he turned out to be a friend

Part of the family

Both Sam and Amelia have been fantastic in their support in my defence. I live in Canada and trying to navigate the legal system on one’s own is near impossible at best. Sam took the time to explain everything and answer my questions - and patiently re-answered whenever I was overwhelmed. He faithfully responded in a timely manner and if I could not speak to him directly, Amelia was always there. Fantastic team. Compassionate is a great description of Sam’s approach and his calm demeanour always put me at ease. He dealt with a difficult prosecutor and was able to get my case to the conclusion we wanted without trial - which was important to me from a risk, time and expense aspect. You cannot go wrong with Sam and I highly recommend him.
