I am a former client of Ray Cassar and contacted his office to file a motion to remove my name from the Michigan SORA. It has been ten years, I was tier one offender and eligible. Ray's office assigned my case to one of their bright attorneys, Sam Bennett. From our initial meeting to the final resolu...tion of my case I was impressed with Sam. I did not even have to read my statement, based on Sam's preparation of the motion and his articulate and fact based oration, the judge granted my motion-didn't even need to hear my statement. Sam is by far the best lawyer I have ever met. He is genuine and compassionate. He is truly a rare find in the profession. I highly recommend him. I was on probation in Oakland County (the strictest county in Michigan) for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and within a few months I was arrested fo...r Disorderly Intoxication. I had violated my probation previous to that arrest by lying to the judge about driving when I was not supposed to and I spent 5 days in the Oakland County Jail (Sam was NOT my lawyer at the time) because of some bad advice from a different lawyer. I was seriously looking at 90 days in jail for the probation violation and 30 days would have been a gift. Sam began giving me good advice on the phone before I had even hired him. I was ordered to continue with the group therapy program Sam had advised me to go into and to continue going to AA. That was it! No extension on my probation! Nothing else! I could not believe it! The result of the hearing has helped me to maintain my sobriety and helped me to begin to turn my life around for the better.
