Knowledgeable & Experienced

I cannot recommend Eric highly enough. He is a knowledgeable, experienced defense lawyer. We met him at an extremely low point in our lives and he supported our family thru a very difficult time. Our case went to trial and we received a not guilty verdict. It was an exhausting, emotional two year pro...cess and Eric was with us every step of the way. His work, encouragement and professionalism were invaluable. He took time to meet with us, answer questions and prepare us for each stage. We never thought we'd need a criminal defense attorney but are thankful we had Eric on our side.

Great divorce and criminal defense attorney!

Eric has represented me and various friends and family members. Not only did he fight for everything I wanted in my divorce, but he succeeded at it as well. He answered all of my phone calls, emails and texts, even when I just needed the reassurance that everything was going to be okay. As most kn...ow, a divorce process if very difficult and Eric was there every step of the way to make it as smooth as possible. Even my ex-husband wished he would have hired Eric. He also represented my son and saved him from losing his license, his job and from going to jail. He not only knew the law but also knew the repercussions that Secretary of State would have on his license. He is an outstanding lawyer!

More than satisfied with results!

I met Eric 3 years ago when he was coaching my daughter's softball team. I was recently divorced and involved in an ongoing custody battle with my ex-wife. In addition to the respect I had for him as both, a father and a girls' softball coach, I was very impressed with the legal advice he gave me. ... I decided to terminate my previous attorney and hire Eric. It was by far, the best decision I could have made! My case was delicate because I was dealing with an ex that had/has serious addictions and I was fighting an uphill battle to keep my very young daughter safe. This is no easy task for a father in Macomb County! Eric was/is informative, effective, and most importantly compassionate about helping to keep my daughter out of harms way. He continues to represent our interests and I HIGHLY recommend him.

"I endorse this lawyer. For years, at least ten, I have referred cases which I do not specialize in to Mr. Biretta. He has represented his clients dlligently, effectively and successfully. He continues as co-counsel on many cases with me and is an accomplished trial lawyer. I have rarely met another lawyer that is as aggressive and zealous when representing his clients. I would and still refer many criminal and divorce cases to Mr. Biretta for representation."

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 1998.

Suspension issued in MI, 1998

updated on 06/21/2012

Suspension means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.

Eric’s comment:

“Both of these resulted from a time which I closed my practice of law and left the State of Michigan. My ex was getting my mail, and unfortunatley as we were not on good terms, she did not inform me of two traffic matters and a divorce matter that had slipped through the cracks, and I failed to appear. This was from 1996 and since that time, I have a flawless record as can be attested to by my client reviews. I admit that I did not appear on those matters but it is no reflection on my ability.”

Reprimand issued in MI, 1996

updated on 11/11/2010

Reprimand means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State gives the lawyer a public reprimand in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.

Eric’s comment:

“This was a reprimand for posting a bond for my 17 year old nephew whose parents would not bond him out of the county jail for fighting with his 15 year old brother. Ridiculous.”
