Matthew A. Fraiberg

Matthew Fraiberg is a Michigan criminal defense and DUI/OWI attorney, Managing Partner of Fraiberg & Pernie, and Managed Assigned Counsel for the 48th District Court in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Licensed to practice law in Michigan since 1997, he represents clients facing criminal charges, OWI/DUI allegations, and driver’s license consequences throughout Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb counties.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Fraiberg served as a city prosecutor, judicial clerk, and assistant legal research clerk for the Oakland County Circuit Court. His background provides experience evaluating criminal cases from multiple perspectives, including the defense, prosecution, and court.

Mr. Fraiberg’s practice focuses on Michigan criminal defense and OWI/DUI defense, including first-offense OWI, High BAC (“Super Drunk”), second and repeat offenses, felony third-offense OWI, drugged driving, implied-consent matters, and driver’s license consequences. He also represents clients facing reckless driving, domestic violence, assault, drug charges, theft and retail fraud, probation violations, misdemeanors, felonies, and criminal traffic offenses.

His defense approach is strategic and evidence-driven. Depending on the case, Mr. Fraiberg examines police reports, body-camera and dash-camera video, the legality of traffic stops, field sobriety testing, breath and blood-test procedures, laboratory records, witness statements, and court filings. Careful examination of the evidence may identify factual inconsistencies, procedural problems, constitutional issues, or weaknesses in chemical or scientific evidence that can affect the defense strategy.

Mr. Fraiberg has extensive experience representing clients in Oakland County courts, including the 48th District Court in Bloomfield Hills and the 52nd District Courts serving communities throughout Oakland County. He also represents clients in Oakland County Circuit Court and courts throughout Wayne and Macomb counties.

As Managed Assigned Counsel for the 48th District Court, Mr. Fraiberg works within the court system serving Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, and West Bloomfield. His private criminal-defense practice is separate from his Managed Assigned Counsel responsibilities.
