Mary was an excellent attorney. Very astute and intelligent and cares for all of the clients that she represents. As this was my only offense, she was able to navigate me through all of the formalities involved in a first DUI process. I was able to complete all of the requirements of my probation and... was happy to be done with this ordeal. Don't drink and drive. She also has an amazing ability to answer her phone whenever you need her.

I have hired Mary Higdon twice to help me expunge/seal convictions from my criminal record in the State of Indiana. Both times, Mary has taken genuine interest in my cases, and has taken immediate action to move forward with removing convictions from my record. I was arrested for OWI and spent 24 hours in the lovely Monroe County Correctional Center. When I was released, I was not expecting many attorneys to answer their phones at 10am on a Sunday. I spoke to two different lawyers, who both gave me the same responses and I got the impression that they were ...giving me the answers that I wanted to hear so that I would hire them. I then called Mary, who started out by giving me the worst case scenario which I appreciated; honesty was exactly what I was looking for. She then gave me her professional opinion as to what would likely happen to me, and as it turned out her initial thoughts were for the most part exactly how it played out. I had never been in any legal trouble before, and I had no idea what to expect when I met with her the next day. She was very kind and supportive and definitely helped to make me feel less awful about myself. I still feel terrible about what I did, but she helped me to understand that it was not the end of the world. I told her my story, she gave me a general idea of when things would happen, and also told me what I could do in the meantime. It took about 3 months before my day in court (which I understand is about average) and leading up to that she kept me informed whenever she had any interaction with the prosecutor. I bombarded her with emails full of questions throughout this time, which she always answered within a few hours. I spent hours on mycase.in.gov reading about cases similar to mine, and I truly believe that she got me the best possible outcome given my circumstances. Although I hope I never need her for any criminal defense again, I would absolutely call her first. Since most people here only want the basics, here goes: very professional, very responsive, very compassionate, and very affordable for those of us without trust funds.
