Weronika Kowalczyk Costas

Weronika K. Costas, Esq. is the founder and principal attorney of The Costas Network Law Center, LLC. She holds a J.D. from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. Ms. Costas’ ideals of honesty, conviction and compassion drive her in her practice. Her professionalism and integrity allow her to be diligent in her work as well as respectful and compassionate with her clients. While her firm is based in the greater Cleveland, Ohio, area, she represents clients before immigration courts, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and asylum offices across the United States. She has extensive removal defense and family-based immigration experience and has filed many successful motions and appeals with the Board of Immigration Appeals.

Ms. Costas’ drive and compassion stem from her personal background as an immigrant herself. Born in Poland, Ms. Costas came to the United States in 1991 on a J-2 visa. She later obtained lawful permanent residence and ultimately became a naturalized U.S. citizen. While she quickly assimilated to living in the U.S., she never forgot the initial feelings of culture shock and insecurity that come with moving to a new country. As her European accent disappeared over the years, she made a conscious effort to stay in touch with her roots. As a result, she is still fluent in Polish and has maintained a very strong Polish identity while at the same time embracing the American culture in which she matured.

 Ms. Costas’ dual cultural awareness made International Studies a natural choice for her major at Kenyon College. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she studied abroad in Mexico where she became fluent in Spanish. Back in the U.S., an externship at Lutheran Immigration and Resettlement Service in Baltimore, MD introduced her to the complexities of a non-profit refugee resettlement organization. Her newfound awareness of refugee issues, coupled with her empathy towards people from different countries, sparked an interest in serving immigrants. This was the major driving force in her pursuit of a law degree.

While at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Ms. Costas interned at the Cleveland Immigration Court. In this capacity, she gained invaluable experience by performing legal research and drafting court decisions in complex removal and asylum cases. She then further honed her legal immigration experience by working for three years at Margaret W. Wong & Associates, LPA. Following this, Ms. Costas founded The Costas Network Law Center, LLC to expand her services to the local and nationwide immigrant community.
