Upfront, Sensible and Hardworking Lawyer!

Mr. Geary is a very knowledgeable and trustworthy lawyer, which is not always synonymous with such a profession. I'm always impressed with his attentiveness and responsiveness, even after normal business hours. In fact, he called and replied to my emails while on his vacation after reviewing my d...ocuments and answered all of my legal questions. My situation with my ex-wife was/is nothing short of absurd, but Mr. Geary was very up front and honest about my options, the legal system and process for handling certain situations. He always has my interests in mind and always works to support what is right...and does not back down. Unlike my past legal counsel, Mr. Geary is always prepared and looks at the case from every angle, researches every bit of information and works with me to make sure I understand everything and am satisfied. With his vast experience and direct approach, he will not disappoint nor waste your money.

Bill Geary is the best!!!

Bill was very attentive and listened carefully to my case. He "rolled up his sleeves", went to work and got the best possible solution to my problem. He was absolutely brilliant, and his fee was very fair. I would recommend him to anyone.

A True Regret & Waste

I typically don't write reviews, but if I can help save someone to avoid the TRAUMATIC DISTRESS I went through hiring this GARBAGE attorney I will. First let me start off with the consultation. I explained what my goals were to accomplish for my custody case and he ASSURED me that what I was looking ...to accomplish was more than feasible for him to do. After I paid a $3500 retainer and signed a $350 an hour legal representation agreement everything we discussed & he promised prior went out the window. This Attorney should be retired and quite frankly should have never practiced law. It was one lie and rebuttal after the next. He didn't fulfill not one agreement or expectation and allowed my case to drag on for 3 years while he found things to do that he claimed "needed done" for the success of my case. There were times I even told him not to do certain work that I didn't think was necessary for the financial burden it would impose and he went behind my back and did it anyways and thought I wouldn't catch it on my invoice. When I addressed the matter he got extremely irate and said he wasn't going to argue with me and he would credit me the $500 dollars of work that I told him not to do, but he wouldn't use it in litigation either. I spent 6 figures over the course of almost 3 years for a custody matter trusting that if I hired what I thought was an "experienced attorney" it would be beneficial for the sake of my child. In court he would forget his hearing aids and ask for you to repeat things and say "I forgot my good hearing aids at home". There we're many instances when I would question or suggest things in court breaks and he would get irate in the "private" conference room yelling and cursing at me so loudly and disrespectfully that others could hear outside the room. And I would respectfully have to put him in his place and truly wanted to fire him then but at that point I was 50% and $60,000 in deep hiring him so my back was literally up against the wall on starting completely over. In those 3 years I had numerous conversations about all the ridiculous nonsense I was experiencing with various other attorneys and people in general and they all would say "who is your counsel & your paying him how much?" No one has EVER heard of him and to boot heard of someone no matter how many years of practice they may have charging $350 an hour and somehow be worth it, especially for a domestic case. With all that and such more I can go on for eons please save yourself the money, distress, dishonesty, disrespect, and unfulfilled agreements & results. After he sells himself in the consultation the rest is just simply about pouring into his money pit for his wife's botox and to live their lavish lifestyles here and in their other homes in Florida (which he Braggs often about). If this helps just one person, my time and privacy relinquished in writing this review is worth it. P.S: The courts can careless about your children or their foundational & impressionable childhood & how their lives are impacted now and subsequently in their adulthood. Everyone is about the almighty dollar and scratching eachothers backs, not these innocent children's lives. They further are solely interested in the "parents (primarily the fathers" best interest)" instead of the children; despite the irresiversible damage it will cause and subsequent damage control you will have to do to help your child be a productive and successful individual in this crazy world we live in today. Again please save yourself the time, money, headaches, and heartache, and avoid the court system if at all possible and if there is ABSOLUTELY no way to work it out with the other party, handle your case pro se (on your own) & just get legal advice as needed from legal aid &/or the law library to avoid wasting money on the same results you'll get whether you do it yourself or hire an overly priced Attorney.

I am saddened to see what you have written here in AVVO for the public to see. As you know, our firm is composed, presently, of three attorneys and a few support staff. All of us dedicate ourselves to family law matters and all of us have families to support and so do our best to be the best. I am equally saddened about your comments attempting to disparage the court personnel and other attorneys and guardian who were involved in your case. I believe that they also strive to do their best and be the best. In your "Review", in AVVO here, you made it seem as though I gave you some sort of "guarantee" on your case when we first met. Nothing could be further from the truth and, after 45 years of practicing, I know this well: I know of no attorneys who would give any type of guarantee on the outcome of a case, either on a first meeting with a client or even after all evidence was in and a case was "done"-- just waiting on a decision. You did not mention, in your review the following: a. From the time we first talked with you until the case was done, hearing-wise a total of 2 years and 8 months passed. b. The case was continued many times due to Covid restrictions and the courts being closed. c. We spent 7 days trying the case. d. We have over 3,700 copies of emails (some may be double copies though) generated communicating on the case. e. We spent a combined time of 228 hours working on your case. f. As to the work we did that you stated you did not authorize, we voluntarily took the charge off the bill (ourselves and not because you “caught” the charge) but we thought that the work was necessary in order to clear up potential misunderstandings in an exhibit. This work and the new exhibit were used at trial also. e. We presented trial notebooks with over 150 original exhibits in your case (approximately 1500 hundred pages). f. Your original testimony lasted, I believe, over two days. g. After we were done with your original testimony and the original exhibits, you insisted on presenting another 300-400 pages of exhibits and testifying for another two days. Of the total of 7 days of trial you testified four days. h. You demanded having 2 attorneys at trial and so the two of us who attended your whole trial each billed our time at half of our normal rates. i. As to what you say you were charged you still owe money and did NOT spend “6 figures” with us. Again, I am saddened to see what you have written about us and about the Court here in AVVO for the public to see.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
