I was in a tough spot. After lots of disagreements and tough months leading into tough years, there was only one way forward with my then partner of 13 years. Having two children, and sharing a home with ex-partner, it was looking and feeling bleak, to think that everything was about to change for th...e worse. My ex didn’t want to offer me equal shared parenting time of the two children that I’d lived with, loved and raised their whole lives(11 years and 7 years old). I hadn’t done anything wrong, we’d just grown apart. It felt very unfair and painful. I resolved that I had to get an attorney to stand up for me and help me protect my time with my children. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, this was a very unfamiliar territory for me. I’d never hired an attorney, and at the time, I wish I didn’t have to.
