The way he talks to people is arrogant and unprofessional. Very rude and very pessimistic. Not someone I’d want to hire for sure. I don’t want a lawyer who looks only at the bad side of statistics and makes pessimistic expectations the norm. You have to be able to be optimistic and manifest the good ...
I’m not sure which interaction your experience is coming from, whether a question I answered for free on AVVO or a phone conversation during a free consultation. Anyway I’m sorry you feel that way. I have to be honest when I am evaluating a legal issue, even if it means giving you bad news. Feel free to call me if you wish to discuss your concerns.

Excellent firm, excellent results. Very knowledgeable and professional. Everything was explained in a manner that I could understand and was made to feel right at home. I would hire Benjamin in a heartbeat.

Very nice gentleman and we only conversed through email. Don't talk to police and get an attorney is just information and I can learn from my cat. He meant well but that type of general information is one size fits all.
I’m sorry you feel that way. It sounds like I answered a question for you for free on AVVOs forum. Although I do not remember the specifics, that is the correct answer 80% of the time for typical questions on this forum . Legal issues are usually too complex to analyze from a few sentences in a question, and if questions are too complex, then the default answer will most certainly be contact a lawyer. Whether you were the victim of the assault or you allegedly committed the assault (or any fact pattern relating to an assault), you would need to have a lawyer look at it in depth. Assaults are not as cut and dry as most would think. Many times, people do not want to hear that they need a lawyer and think they can handle the legal issue themselves. And you are right, that advice is one size fits all, and is usually the best advice that I can give in a short time frame, for free, so that I can focus my efforts on current clients. Take care.

After losing faith in my lawyers in my hometown & interviewing over 30 lawyers I came across Tom & his law firm, Pugh & Roach. I was facing a serious charge that I did not commit for over 3 years and hired Pugh & Roach to represent me in the last 4 months of my court process. We ended up going to tri...

He gave me clear instructions on what to do, which I would never have known without his advice. Thanks so much !
You are welcome.
"I have worked with Tom for more than eight years, both in our firm and while we worked for separate firms. You will not find another lawyer that cares as much for his clients or puts more effort into their cases. I have seen the results of his efforts even in matters in which most attorneys would just roll through the motions. One example of Tom's work ethic is his attention, preparation, and arguing on behalf of his clients at probation or diversion violation hearings. On numerous occasions, I have seen Tom start work immediately to develop arguments for why our clients should remain on diversion or probation. He meets with our clients, truly listens to their concerns, and answers any questions they may have. He collects evidence from clients and develops his arguments immediately upon hiring. His attention to detail and work ethic are driven, in part, by his empathy. He cares for his clients in large and small matters, leading to excellent results for our clients."
"Mr. Pugh is an excellent advocate for his clients. I would not hesitate to recommend him to a client in need. He is also an asset to the Avvo Community, providing invaluable resources to those seeking help."
"I endorse this lawyer. He was an associate of our firm for several years before leaving to establish his own firm. He was always diligent and accurate in his work and always has the best interests of his client in mind."
"I have known Tom for a number of years. He is diligent, conscientious, ethical, and hard working. He has experience in a number of areas and is a well-rounded lawyer."
