About me

I grew up in Oxford MS. Went to Ole Miss as an undergraduate studying history, served in the Navy in Newport, RI, NY City and eventually Norfolk, VA where I was assigned as Gunnery Officer onboard the USS Ainsworth (FF1090). While onboard the Ainsworth traveled to Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, Africa, and the Middle East. Returned to Ole Miss to law school, after which I worked for the MS Supreme Court and Federal District Court. I have practiced primarily business estate and elder law in North MS and Western Tennessee since leaving the court system in 1987. Married to Cynthia Freeland, CCRN. We have two adult children, Catherine, who is pursuing a graduate degree in public health at East TN State University in Johnson City, TN and Jason who recently graduated from the Citadel in Charleston, SC and serves in the Mississippi National Guard. We like outdoor activities in the mountains or ocean, particularly sailing & good food. We are active in the First Presbyterian Church of Oxford  and I am a Rotarian.
