Megan Arthur’s practice includes a wide range of complex litigation in state and federal court with a significant concentration in family law, including divorce, child custody, parentage, paternity, adoption, child support, alimony and prenuptial agreements.  Ms. Arthur understands the life-altering situations her clients face and is dedicated to personally guiding her clients through the legal process with the primary goal being a reasonable, practical and equitable solution to domestic disputes.  Ms. Arthur has a stellar reputation in the legal community and is a formidable opponent in the courtroom should your dispute become adversarial.

A native of Memphis, Ms. Arthur earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Methodist University in 2000.  After graduation, she served three years as a broker’s assistant to several senior investment executives at a national financial planning corporation before earning her Juris Doctorate degree in 2006 from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.

Ms. Arthur is proud to be an active member of the local legal community.  Since her admission to practice law in Tennessee in 2006, Ms. Arthur has served three terms on the Memphis Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Board of Directors, served three terms as a member of the steering committee for the Young Lawyers Section of the Memphis Area Legal Services Access to Justice Fundraising Campaign, and served as Vice-President of the Family Law Section of the Memphis Bar Association in 2014 and as President of the Family Law Section in 2015.  Ms. Arthur has also served on other community boards and programs, including a three-year term as a member of the board of directors of the Downtown Memphis Commission (formerly the Center City Commission) for Memphis and Shelby County, Tennessee (2010-2013).  Ms. Arthur is a graduate of Leadership Memphis’s 2011 civic leadership class as well as a graduate of the Tennessee Bar Association’s 2012 Law Leadership Class.

Ms. Arthur is a member of the Memphis and Tennessee Bar Associations.  Since 2013, she has been selected by Mid-South Super Lawyers magazine to the Rising Stars list in the field of Family Law.  In 2015, was nominated and elected as a Barrister Member of the Leo Bearman, Sr. American Inn of Court.  Most recently she was elected by her peers in the Memphis legal community to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the Memphis Bar Association.

Determined and Compassionate
Hired Megan after consulting with 15+ attorneys about my divorce case. Her desire to do what is best for her client and the children involved is unrivaled. She tirelessly worked to finalize my divorce and ensure my family had a legal document that outlined boundaries to ensure my children would not be more negatively affected than needed and safe. Best Experience
Megan was always so understanding with everything that went on in my case. She was very quick to respond which made the process a lot less stressful- especially when you need an answer ASAP. Megan knew exactly what to fight for (and how) and made sure I got what I deserved. I HIGHLY recommend her!

So glad that I had her as my attorney
I did not have any previous experience with attorneys but Megan exceeded my expectations on almost all horizons. She knows when to do what, and she is able to do it with the highest level of efficiency that I can imagine. She is super professional and also easy to talk to personally. I know she works on many cases simultaneously, but what amazes me the most is that she always knows all the details about my case and she never messes things up. I wish I could have that ability in my own work, but I am afraid that is just her gift. I highly recommend Megan to anybody who needs a family lawyer.

I would NOT have made it through my divorce without Megan
While divorce is common, it's not common to me. It's certainly not a process with which I'm familiar by any stretch of the imagination. When I consulted with, and then hired, Megan I knew instantly that I made the correct choice. I was stressed out beyond belief and probably quite irrational. Megan managed not just my divorce but also managed me really well and I knew exactly what was happening, what to expect, and how to act throughout the entire process. She's tenacious, exacting, and focused and made me feel like I was her only client whenever we spoke or had any communication. There are not enough superlatives for how I felt about her performance, the value of having been afforded the opportunity to work with her, her efficiency, and affability: most spectacular, most calming, most professional, most organized, most effective, most flexible, best recall for precedent, most timely, most relatable, etc., etc., etc.. The final outcome of my divorce was more than I ever hoped for as a father of a young child in a state that tends to favor the mother in divorce proceedings. I'm looking forward to a happy future instead of dwelling on anything I could have done differently in the divorce itself. That's solely and specifically because of the fact that Megan went above and beyond to get me way above and beyond what typically a father in a divorce would get with anyone else representing them. Of that, I'm sure.

Custody for my grandaughter
My son was in a position that he needed to get custody of his eleven year old daughter. Megan Arthur was recommended to us by my Brother. She was amazing!! Emergency custody was granted immediately and full custody granted to him. She presented the case before the court, was very prepared and covered all the bases. My granddaughter is thriving with her dad.

So glad I had Megan on my case!
After 6 months of frustration of nothing being done by my previous attorney, I am so glad I got Megan Arthur to take my case. She jumped right in and got the visitation schedule done in a couple of days. I am so impressed by Megan's ability to be decisive, straight to the point, professional and being able to get to a favorable resolution quickly in my very hard and contentious divorce and post-divorce matter. Megan is very experienced in "not so easy" cases and did an amazing job representing me. Megan responds to communications very promptly and is always eager to listen to her client's concerns. She's good, really good
I am a father to a very young daughter that found himself facing an immediate divorce. I hired Ms Megan Arthur to represent me with my divorce & custody of my daughter. I needed someone that would take my case as seriously as I was. Megan lived up to my expectations. I wanted to avoid conflict as much as possible because I knew that I'd still be co-parenting with my former spouse. But I also knew that I had to have someone to look out for my, and my daughter's, best interests. Megan helped me walk that fine line and keep that delicate balance. When things outside of my control went sideways with my former spouse, and I mean seriously sideways, Megan gave me the straight forward advise that I needed. I followed her advise and was able to able to show my former spouse that I wasn't going to roll over. Ultimately I was able to get a fair and reasonable outcome that I was happy with. If I had hired anyone else I don't know if I would have gotten the favorable results that I had. I would recommend Ms Megan Arthur without hesitation.

A True Professional
I have had several business related legal experiences involving various matters over the years but nothing that was of a personal nature until my recent divorce. I have never been as impressed as I was with the professionalism, responsiveness and legal knowledge as I was with Megan Arthur! We truly worked as a team and I highly recommend Megan if you should ever need representation in a family related legal matter. Emergency Child Protective Order and Custody
My 4 year old nephew was being neglected by his mom and dad due to drug use. Megan and her team advised and guided me step by step in getting emergency custody. I spoke with Megan and her team constantly throughout the case. It didn't matter if I made contact via email or phone my case was treated as if it was the only case they had. I was very pleased with the outcome and how it was handled from start to finish.

Hands down . . . Megan Arthur knows her job
On March 4th I walked into an attorney's office for the first time to talk about my 18 year Marraige . Having no idea what to expect my anxiety level was high, my frail emotions were crumbling and I was a nervous wreck. Megan came to the lobby, we shook hands and went to discuss the reason for my visit. Megan wasn't the perception I had of a female attorney; her warmth and friendlness immediately put me at ease and gave me a sense of a hope. Months and months would pass by as my divorce took time to get settled. I would get discouraged and break down and I'd call Megan. She always made me feel like everything was going to be ok. She knows the law, has great intuition on what she can foresee occurring and stays one step ahead. I always felt that in the end things would be ok but that reassurance came from Megan not me. My settlement was what was fair and What I was truly owed and it got me back on my feet so my 2 young sons and I could start the next chapter of our lives. Megan is a wonderful legal resource and I was blessed to have been referred to her to handle my divorce but on March 4th I didn't just gain an attorney I also gained a friend.

The very best attorney
Megan is an excellent attorney. She is very knowledgeable about the law and will not sugar coat anything just to gain your business. She will give you the facts straight according to the law. Megan helped me through my divorce process. I was ignorant about Divorce law at first but thanks to Megan, I am more knowledgeable now than I was when my divorce began. She helped me go step-by-step till the divorce process was complete. After court, she even jumped up and down with joy with me because I was so happy my divorce was final. So yes, I would recommend Megan as an attorney you can trust to take care of your legal needs. Forget about the rest and hire the best and that is Megan Arthur.

Very good choice
Ms. Arthur was initially recommended to me by another attorney. I have been quite happy with the caliber of both her work and herself. Under some very trying conditions, she repeatedly prevailed. I'm very pleased to recommend her should you be in need of family law counsel.
