Daniel Logue Ellis

 

Daniel L. Ellis, attorney at law and Rule 31 Certified General Civil and Family Mediator with Special Training in Domestic Violence, practices at Breeding & Henry, LLC, in his hometown of Knoxville. Daniel’s practice is broad and varied including general civil litigation, security clearance law, special education advocacy, family law, probate, conservatorship, disability rights advocacy and criminal defense, along with mediations.  Prior to joining Breeding & Henry, Daniel practiced law with his father, Martin L. Ellis, for several years at Ellis and Ellis, P.C. Daniel is heavily involved in his community and with bar service and pro bono work.  He currently serves as the Knoxville Bar Association’s Access to Justice Committee Co-Chair and the Secretary/Treasurer of the Knoxville Bar Association’s Barristers, Board Member of the Sertoma Center and Emory Valley Center, and as a volunteer in countless legal clinics sponsored by groups such as the Tennessee Faith and Justice Alliance as a project of the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission. Daniel has also been published several times and he often serves as a presenter or panelist at various classes and seminars.

 

Daniel is a 2006 graduate of Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and a 2009 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law. While in law school, Daniel served as Director of UT Pro Bono Project, Coordinator of the Saturday Bar volunteer program, and participated in Mediation Moot Court (where he and his teammate, Hannah Tippett, won 1st Place at Regionals and 5th Place in the Nation), among other activities. Daniel has received several award and professional honors for his dedication and work, including the Donald F. Paine Volunteer Law Student Award, the Tennessee Bar Association Law Student Volunteer of the Year Award, the William M. Leech, Jr., Public Service Award, and the Kolwyck Equal Access to Justice Fellow Recipient award.

 

Daniel has been and will remain a tremendous asset to the Tennessee Bar, never hesitating to give back. Daniel’s colleagues describe him as “one of the truly kind people out there” and someone “who never says an unkind word about anyone.” Daniel is a big fan of Jimmy Carter, loves woodworking and is married to Beth G. Ellis and has a baby daughter, A.J.
