Biography

Mr. Garza is a native of East Tennessee. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He obtained his Masters of Science from the University of Tennessee and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Marcos M. Garza of the Garza Law Firm, PLLC is best known for his defense of those accused of DUI, criminal charges and for his representation of individuals who have suffered serious personal injury. In 2010 through 2014, Marcos Garza was one of only four lawyers in the states of Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi, under the age of 40 to be selected as a “Mid-South Super Lawyer Rising-Star,” in the area of DUI/DWI Defense, a distinction given to the top 2.5% of all lawyers under the age of 40 or in the first 10 years of practice. Mr. Garza has consistently been recognized in CityView, Newsweek, Forbes and Time magazines for his accomplishments as an outstanding attorney. Mr. Garza lectures both in the state of Tennessee and nationally in the areas of Criminal Defense, DUI and trial skills. Mr. Garza has literally attended hundreds of hours of legal and scientific education related to the defense of the citizen accused and prides himself in staying on the cutting edge of trial techniques and the underlying law and science that is necessary to effectively defend those accused of crime or those who have suffered serious personal injury. Mr. Garza is trained in the science and techniques of Gas Chromatography (the method used to test drugs and alcohol in the blood), the EC/IR II breath testing device and is both a student and Instructor of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) courses.

Mr. Garza is also a graduate of the prestigious National Criminal Defense College (NCDC) in Macon, Georgia and a graduated of the well-respected Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College® in Dubois, Wyoming, an intensive 24-day trial skills college.

After a tour as a Judge Advocate and Captain in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Garza returned to practice law in his home of East Tennessee. He routinely travels across East Tennessee handling criminal and personal injury cases for a relatively small number of clients. Marcos Garza is committed to handling fewer cases in the areas of Criminal, DUI and Personal Injury law in order to achieve the best results possible. DUI 1st offense - with accident

Marcos was excellent and upfront in his assessment of my case. It is a difficult case to defend. But, he went to bat for me with the DA's office and I am able to keep working and going on with a semi-normal life. Even the judge commented that after reviewing my case, I had hired myself an excell...ent attorney. I am very thankful and grateful to Marcos.

One of TN's few Elite Lawyers. Knows the laws like no other in TN, easy to talk to, never too busy for a client, and AFFORDABLE!

Wow. Just left court, and I'm speechless. Marcos is undeniably the best. When I heard the judge say to one of Marcos' other clients "Any one you represent is priviledged to have you as their attorney" I knew I made the right choice (Yes, the Judge said exactly that). The docket was large that day, an...d I was able to watch several of the other "top" lawyers do "their job" (Marcos,on the other hand, performs, he really does), and NONE of the other lawyers recieved any praise, or even a nod, from the judge. I was a first offense DUI. I was at the time trying to get a Government job and was quite concerned about having this on my record. To make a long story shory, I no longer have to worry about what my record says, because it will say nothing. The man is Incredible, to say the least. I do not wish to give out too much information about my case, but let me also add I have yet to meet another person as well connected as Marcos Garza. I shopped around before deciding on Marcos. I started in the phonebook and found the other "big" names wanting much more $$$ (who I am sure would not have been able to fight for me the way Marcos did), and many others who wanted much less $$$, and I have no doubt they would have merely walked me in, told me to plead guilty, and then expect payment. Marcos, for the record, told me from the start to plead Not Guilty with him as my attorney. Marcos is Different. I initially called him, after business hours even, expecting to leave a message, and he answered and told me to come see him and that he could help. Now you ask "What's so different about that?" Answer: I completly believed him, and after talking to him I knew not only could he help, but he was going to fight for me like I was his brother. When it came to the court dates he did just that, like no other. I was amazed at what Marcos is capable of and how he pulled it off. Amazed. The man needs his own TV show. He's just that good. I don't make very much money at all. I live a very Spartan lifestyle, consisting of few, if any, luxuries. Having food in the house is sometimes one of those luxuries. Now considering the above praise for Marcos, one would not expect a person of my means to be able to afford such a great attorney, and I certainly never expected what all I recieved. I was not a docket number to him, he knew me by name. Shop around, go ahead (Infact I spoke with at least 8 other lawyers, before I settled Marcos, the obvious choice), but I can say with the utmost confidence that Marcos is not only the best value, but the Best. Period. I wish Marcos the best in all his endeavors. A person who represents himself has a fool for a client. A person who is represented by Marcos Garza is a wise person, indeed.

Case Dismissed

Marcos Garza represented me during my BUI case this past summer (2009) and the result was a DISMISSAL OF ALL CHARGES. I truly cant say enough good things about Marcos Garza. Without hesitation I can say that he is a premier lawyer and I have no doubt that I received the best legal advice possible.... Marcos was a pleasure to work with in all aspects of the process. He was always available, kept me informed about the entire process, and the ins and outs of the law. I was extremely satisfied with his exceptional representation. I would and have recommended him without hesitation. During this process, I talked with many people that have had similar cases (failed blood test), and none of them had the excellent experience I had. Everyone I spoke to, other than Marcos, basically told me I had no defense. Marcos explained to the judge why this case should dismissed, and she did! She dismissed the case because he understands DUI law completely, and if your rights have been violated in any way, Marcos will figure it out. Marcos was nothing short of amazing in the courtroom and he is simply one of the finest legal representatives I have ever dealt with. I have already, and will continue to recommended him because I firmly believe that he will represent you as well as he represented me. If you want to win your case, you should hire Marcos Garza.

The Best of the Best.

There is much to say about Mr. Garza. He quickly became more than a lawyer, he was a true friend that actually bailed me out in a time of need. He goes against the grain and fights for you as if it were his own case. I hope that this sounds sincere and not inflated, but fact of the matter is, I belie...ve he really is the best of the best in DUI law. After my case, other lawyers and court professionals were walking out congratulating him and telling me I chose the best. As far as my case goes, he was able to do something he was told by multiple lawyers that he could not do. I received my DUI charge in Davidson County and since I didn't take the breathalyzer, was charged with a violation of the implied consent law. Marcos was told repeatedly that the charge could not be overcome and that I would lose my license. This came from some other DUI lawyers and professionals. Marcos told me he was going to try, and through a plea bargain, I was able to keep my license and had the charge dropped to wreckless driving! He is a true fighter and friend, and a remarkable lawyer to boot. If you want a win for your money (and he was the more affordable of options), choose Marcos. If you want someone to fight for you as if it were his butt on the line, choose Marcos.

Go With Him

Summer 2009 started with the worst experience of my life, and thanks to Mr. Garza's help, it ended with one of the best experiences of my life. He fought my DUI case diligently and was extremely prepared when my court trial came along. The outcome was even better than both of us expected, and he had ...his work cut out for him. The hardest factor in the case was my being underage, but that didn't have any affect on his professionalism or the way he treated me personally. I owe a lot to this man. On a side note, ask for extra things you can do to help and DO them. They will do you more good than you think.
