My name is Joshua T. Crain and I was an Assistant District Attorney General in McMinnville, Tennessee for over six years before starting my private practice. I focus primarily on criminal defense, but also handle juvenile delinquency cases, divorce, family law matters, and DCS actions.
As a criminal attorney I have obtained aquittals by a jury in cases including felony murder, aggravated child abuse, and DUI. I put my extensive criminal law experience to work for my clients everyday, whether it's through negotiations with the District Attorney General's office or in the courtroom arguing motions or conducting jury trials.

Wonderful legal counsel!
Mr. Crain was very professional, and courteous. I met with a few other attorneys in Murfreesboro before deciding to hire him as my legal counsel. He helped get me the best possible outcome with the charges I was originally brought in on! Would definitely hire him again if any other issues were to com...

Best Decision!
Joshua Crain is an amazing attorney! I was charged with a felony and my court date was quickly approaching in just a few days. I saw all of his great reviews online and called his office. After speaking with him for just a few minutes over the phone, I decided to hire him to represent me. I met with...

Adoption Case
We hired Mr. Crain to represent us in termination of parental rights and an adoption case and recently completed our last day in court yesterday. A friend recommended him to us after they went through a similar situation. We went to Mr. Crain in December 2015 and asked how we go about my husband's ad...

Terrible lawyer
Do not hire him unless you want to be kept in the dark about your case, and then be told misinformation as a scare tactic so you will accept a plea and be under the impression that he did everything he could for your case. Also. You can never get ahold of him and he expects you to talk to his secreta...
Good Morning, First, let me say that I am sorry you feel your experience with my office was not what you expected or wanted. However, like you, I don't like misinformation. You mention in your review that I "didn't even bother to try to get [you] diversion." In the State of Tennessee, a DUI charge is legally ineligible for diversion. You also state in your review that I informed you that since you didn't take the plea you would have to pay me to go to court again. That is also misinformation. Your case was in General Sessions Court. Once the prosecuting attorney made their offer to settle the case in General Sessions Court and you declined the offer, the case had to proceed into Circuit Court; the court where jury trials take place. Unfortunately, in the county where your case was handled, the judge has a policy that you do not get a reset after your second appearance. Therefore, our options that day were to negotiate a settlement (which I did), and then either accept or reject (which you did) the settlement offer. If the settlement offer is rejected, the case then must proceed to Circuit Court by way of the Grand Jury. The fee you were quoted was the fee to defend your case in Circuit Court, as I was originally retained only for General Sessions Court. You were not misinformed. I understand completely the frustration that accompanies any criminal charge and the process of dealing with that charge in court. Unfortunately, the crime you are accused of carries with it a mandatory minimum sentence by law, and is not eligible for diversion, a fact that was explained to you. I'm sorry that you feel your situation is my fault, but I do hope that you are able to get a positive outcome.

Didn't Fight For Me
I retained Mr. Crain based on his great AVVO rating for help with a custody issue. We settled the issue in mediation where my ex had no lawyer. Somehow I lost 30 days of custody and 60% of the child support I had been receiving. Mr. Crain gave me terrible advice that I took because he was the "pro...
I am sorry that my representation did not meet your expectations. I know now, as I did several months ago, why you were, and still are angry and I empathize with you. I have compassion for all of my clients that find themselves in a situation with no ideal resolution. I have to weigh the positive and negative implications for taking any specific course of action in a case. Whether a case reaches a settlement (as you did) or proceeds to trial, there are consequences, and sometimes those consequences are hard to accept. Because of that, I completely understand how easy it is to blame the attorney involved. Unfortunately, I am confined by the law. I might not agree with it, and often wish that it was different. I do not create the problems that my clients come to me with, but my staff and I work hard to represent our clients with a level of personal attention uncommon in the legal community. I hope your situation improves and I wish you all the best.
