Biography
I was born and raised in Mobile and attaended Mobile County Public Schools. After getting my degree in Electrical Engineering, I graduated summa cum laude (with highest honors) from the University of Alabama School of Law in May 1993. I was a member of the Alabama Law Review and was selected as a Hugo Black Scholar and I received the Dean M. Leigh Harrison award for superior academic achievement.
I have been successfully handling personal injury cases for over 22 years and have recovered Millions of Dollars for my clients in all types of personal injury cases.
I have obtained numerous large verdicts and settlements on behalf of those injured or damaged as a result of the wrongful conduct of others. He has secured successful verdicts and settlements in personal injury cases of all types including aircraft accidents, 18-wheeler wrecks, car wrecks, slip and falls, medical malpractice, defective products and others. I was one of the lead lawyers in a large class action suit involving funeral homes in Alabama that were overcharging their customers who used burial policies sold to their loved ones many years before their death. This class action resulted in a $3,000, recovery for class members. I also represented the owner of a small airport against a company that placed aviation fuel in the wrong fuel tanks, causing airplane owners to get the wrong type of fuel. This case resulted in a recovery of almost $2,000,. Additionally, Gary recovered $3,000, for two victims of legal malpractice and over $1,000, for a paper mill employee injured as a result of defective equipment manufactured in a foreign country. All in all, Gary Fillingim has recovered over $10,000, in verdicts and settlements in personal injury cases in his 22 year career.
