Talks the talk but then sends inexperience staff to court, who lack not just experience but basic knowledge of law. They will charge you even for voicemails left on your phone, and when I tried to call and ask about charges he screamed at me and was extremely disrespectful and derogatory, telling me... that he was going to tell the office to never answer my calls again, and to sue him if I wanted to, when I just called to ask why they kept charging me even after the trial was over. He is the most disrespectful and unprofessional person I have ever met, he was screaming and completely lost his mind in 2 seconds after asking why I was being charged for emails and voicemails after trial, please hear my advice and research for a better lawyer or you will regret it. The person that he put on my divorce case was corrected by the judge multiple times in court for not knowing how to address the court or using law terms that were incorrect, which made us look incompetent. Research before you hire a lawyer. I completely regret my decision of hiring this firm.

He talks the talk. Takes your money then sends some dumb attorney who had no idea who you are after doing a background check. Had to assist her the entire time about who I was, this is not my criminal history 3500 after. Wanted 7500 to go to trail cause they have no pull with anyone like he stated i...n our interview. Screw your peace crap quote. He also runs a locksmith business. 2 st flag. All smoke in mirrors for that money. Blah balh balh. Con artist. Bs artist at best.

I hired Thomas Colter and wish I wouldn’t have. Don’t fall for the flashy office and scripture on its walls because his actions contradict his front as a Christian well-intended honest man. You’ll notice that during his consultation, all he does is talk about himself and his military background to s...ell himself. He won’t discuss his planned course of action and expects you to just “trust him.” He said things he couldn’t actually do in the end and left out pertinent information during the consultation that most definitely would’ve affected my consideration. Then he preyed on a vulnerable person needing help with legal issues, wasting time and sending thousands down the drain. You’ll watch your retainer go to nothing in 30-60 days with no real progress on your case. He and his staff made costly mistakes on my case as well. There are good lawyers on the Treasure Coast, but Thomas Colter (Law Patriot) is not one of them. Ask his industry peers, they’ll openly caution you about hiring Thomas Colter. Look up his previous company name “Colter Law” on Google and you’ll see the terrible reviews there as well. I only wish I’d have done better research prior to hiring him. Since then, I’ve heard so many people who had the same experience I did. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR FAR AWAY!

an entire year later and my gut still feels like something's wrong after my case. I feel as though he took my money and did nothing. It was almost like he sent me in to get the charge while lining his pockets. His wife(if that's who it is) even called me before my court date to tell me court was m...oved and it was my best bet to take the date.... I was confused out of my mind. Something in my gut tells me that I made a bad decision retaining him. wonder how he is still in business.

To start with I came in to the office of Colter Law Group and the atmosphere from the beginning was very bland and uncomfortable. I sat down with Mr. Colter and explained my goals, thoughts, expectations for a divorce from my wife. I won’t get in to all the specifics, I even brought in some works...heets to explain how and why my expectations were valid. After a few minutes Mr. Colter assured me he was the man for the job and not to worry about anything. I am a disabled vet with ptsd so worry is what I know how to do. We agreed on a price for the divorce of $3000. I asked Mr. Colter if I could make payments because I didn’t have the full amount and certainly didn’t think a no-fault divorce would cost that much. But since I was there and chose Mr. Colter because he is a veteran like myself, and because he said the $3000 was a discounted rate. I paid $1000 down and agreed to pay $1000 on the 15th the following month and $1000 on the 1st of the following month after that. So after about a week my wife received a letter in the mail saying Mr. Colter was my lawyer bla bla bla. Then a week or two later I receive a call from Lindsey saying I needed to come sign my divorce papers. So I took the 40 minute drive and when I arrived it was that same cold unwelcome feeling, and the girls at the counter we’re talking really loud about people not paying there bills and this and that. Finally Lindsey comes out and wants me to read and sign everything out in the open while standing at the counter. This would of been a really good time to turn up the charm and show some above and beyond service, like hey maybe this is why there is a conference room. So as I uncontrollably stand leaning against the counter top I notice that nothing was accurate. It was like she or someone just copy pasted a template and said thats good enough. I mean come on! Why did Mr. Colter assure me not to worry? Well my confidence in the lack of attention to detail and lack of communication was a complete and utter bomb on the confidence I was quickly loosing. I point out the many mistakes and Lindsey says she will be sure to correct them right away. I asked if she could please email me the fixed copy so I could look it over and not waste another 2.5 hours driving back and forth. She agreed and I left. A week passes and I never heard from her or ever received an email. But what I did receive was a bill for $1400 for the work that was done on drafting that divorce decree, you know the one that was all wrong and never fixed? But I sure did receive a call the morning my payment was due. And two days early on my final payment. Needless to say I parted ways with the Colter Law Group and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone at all. I did however find a local lawyer that laughed at the $3000 price tag of a no-fault uncontested divorce. I have gotten quotes from two other law-firms that will do it for a fraction of the price. But I haven’t received any kind of refund from the Colter Law Group as of yet and have contacted them more than once. I don’t see how they can justify charging me for anything other than the original letter that my wife received. Other than that everything was all wrong. And my time to me is more valuable. So I just received a phone call from Mr. Colter and they don’t want to resolve this matter, they want me to walk away and loose $2000. It’s a shame that that’s how they do business.
