This area of practice includes drug and prescription fraud cases; theft and organized fraud (including money laundering, money transmitting and RICO); business and government investigations (including taxes, honest services and sunshine law); computer issues, firearms (including self-defense and stand your ground defense), false allegations of sexual misconduct, scientific evidence issues (including drug testing); probation violations, extradition and detainer matters, State and federal courts

  2. DUI and DWI
    19%
This area of practice includes DUI, DUI manslaughter, DUI with serious personal injury, administrative driver license suspensions, and DWLS. I have a special interest in the scientific evidence parts of these cases. The scientific evidence for this area of practice includes accident reconstruction, toxicology, and microbiology. My degree in chemistry gives me special insights into these scientific issues.

Nolle Prosequi - EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED !!!!
Hired an incompetent attorney before finding Mr. Garland. I knew when I first spoke to Mr. Garland that I had made the right decision. He gave me the BEST of his time, service, energy and effort and got me the results that I needed. His work was very detail-oriented and well-written. In the courtroom he is self-confident, respected and assertive when it counts. All charges dropped by prosecutor !! Mr. Garland was also very willing to go to trial for me without hesitation and thankfully it never came to that. Much appreciated . THANK YOU !

Got the results I wanted
Jeffrey Garland was able to do what my previous two attorney's were unable/unwilling to do. I originally paid a huge sum of money to another attorney thinking the more expensive the better service I will receive. This was completely false. I rarely got any communication from them even after calling and leaving multiple emails. Jeffrey Garland was the complete opposite. He was very thorough and always willing to listen. His rates were very fair and he was also knowledge. I was facing jail time with multiple felonies. With the help of Jeffrey Garland I was able to move on with my life with no jail time, a withheld adjudication on all felonies and 5 years probation. This was the best outcome I could have hoped for without going to trail and he got it done for me.

Five star lawyer
Doc was demanding a lot of money at the 11th. hour. Money which they had waived ten years earlier. After three court hearings the case was dropped thanks to Mr.Garlands efforts.

My charges were dropped! Thanks Mr. Garland!
I was charged with two 2nd degree felonies and one 3rd degree felony as a former correctional officer for the State of Florida. I was charged with unlawful compensation, introduction to contraband in state facility, and accepting bribes from an inmate. The evidence obtained was by a search of my vehicle. I did not give consent for the search of my vehicle, however, who was to defend me and advocate for what was said or not said? No one. Mr. Jeffrey Garland dives into what the law says, and studies any and all prior cases that pertain to your case. Mr. Garland forced the prosecutor to drop all charges through pretrial hearings in which Mr. Garland made very clear to the court that my statements were coerced. I was told that my vehicle was going to be searched, but I was never asked, and they simply didn't have probable cause. The charges were dropped after pretrial hearings and the rest is history. Thank you Jeffrey!

Unnecessarily Stopped then Busted!
I hired Mr. Garland March 2013 for my grandson. We live out of state and it was very important to have a lawyer that would be working on our behalf. I trust Mr. Garland completely, i feel that he worked very hard for us. Mr. Garland took the time to explain the process of what was happening during the entire ordeal. Because we were out of state Mr. Garland arranged it so he could appear in court for us on more than one occasion which saved us that extra financial burden. My grandson was facing several felony charges and misdemeanors for drugs. Mr. Garland has great knowledge of the law specific to our case, he was able to get the charges dropped down to two misdemeanors. During the entire time Mr. Garland treated us with care and respect. Thanks to him, he made the bad situation bearable. If we ever need a lawyer in Florida, Jeffrey Garland will be the first I make.

Vindicated!
On 12-17-09. I was arrested by the St. Lucie Sheriff's Office, and was charged with 4 Felony charges which were Grand Theft, Official Misconduct, Forgery, and Uttering a forged instrument. I was hired by this Department in on Feb 14th, 1994, at this time I was also a member of the United States Army Reserves. I enlisted on August 23rd, 1984. The Sheriff's Office pays 17 days per year to compensate a employee when they are called up to serve. However I was accused of fraudulently putting in for military pay from the department for military time that were not scheduled military drill weekends. The Sheriff department has a policy that states an employee must submit the proper documents to the supervisor prior to taking military leave, in which I did each time. I was ordered to be at my reserve unit. I am a Food Service Supervisor at my reserve unit, as well as the Transportation Supervisor, and a lot of times I am ordered to be at the unit a couple of days in advance to the regular scheduled drill weekend dates. In which my Military supervisor would always send a Civilian Employer notification in lieu of the scheduled military drill weekends covering all dates that were not visual on the drill schedule. Prior to my arrest the Sheriff's office Internal Affairs Sergeant started their own investigation, prior to them turning their findings over to the State Attorney's Office and ultimately making the decision to arrest me before ever speaking to me or my immediate Military supervisors, but the most devastating action was the fact that for all the dates in question was already at the hands of the investigator in my personnel file. I hired a Criminal Defense Attorney in Brevard County initially that did absolutely nothing in the case for 15 months but continuations. I retained Mr. Garland in March of 2011, once Mr. Garland received my file he and his partner Attorney Mark Orr literally had me in the office 2 days for at least 4 hours each day tearing the case apart. Attorney Garland said to me all the evidence needed to clear you is right here in you're discovery packet that was sent by way of the State Attorney's Office. Mr. Garland and I spent countless hours of research and gathering military rules and regulations, as well as Florida and Federal Statutes and several letters were sent out in support of my criminal case by Mr. Garland, numerous phonecalls to military officials and most importantly Mr. Garland made numerous trips to the Sheriff's Office Human Resource Office and obtained my entire Personnel and Finance records Which also gave him all the necessary information on who he needed to take sworn Depositions from which included Sheriff Office employees and my immediate Military supervisors which ultimately led to the State Attorney doing the right thing and Dismissing the case on September 1st, 2011 twenty-one months later. I commend Mr. Orr and Mr. Garland for a excellent job well done these guys were very aggressive and worked diligently to get this case dismissed within 7 months, had I hired these great attorney's from the beginning im sure the case would have been dismissed at the very beginning Attorney Garland does a very thorough job he is very humble and a well respected attorney he will keep you informed on what's going on with your case every single day there was a letter in my post office box from his firm or a message on my cell phone or better yet a email and his secretary she is just a awesome lady just as professional and greets you with a lovely smile on a rainy day. Mr. Garland I wish you and your firm the best of luck in the near future, and I want to thank you all personally for completing the proper investigation on my behalf, and saving my 21 year Law Enforcement Career as well as my 28 year Military career with 2 years left to retirement. May your Law firm continue to blossom and prosper in St. Lucie county.

I had an issue regarding a criminal client's ability to travel outside Florida and found Mr. Garland had handled a factually similar issue. I contacted him about the case he handled and he not only called me back right away, he also sent me copies of the pleadings he prepared and legal memorandum to support the issues. Mr. Garland's work was thorough, well written, and authoritative. I highly recommend Mr. Garland.

The Lawyer to Hire for Results
In 2006, I was arrested for possession of child pornography. Unfortunately, I didn't know about Mr. Garland. After going through 2 incompetent attorneys, I ended up taking a plea for 3 counts of possession and was given 15 years probation. My attorney at the time didn’t even ask for concurrent sentencing even thought I had asked him to do so. During the last 5 years, I have had several family events take place outside of Fl. I hired an attorney who was unable to affect any travel for me. Then, last year another family celebration was to take place in California. I hired a new attorney and again was denied travel. On appeal, while working with the attorney, he actually fired me for trying to micro-manage his work. He recommended Mr. Garland. I contacted Mr. Garland and with a lot of research, skill and foresight into what the judge needed, Mr. Garland was able to obtain a travel permit for me. This past July, my family was planning a party celebrating our father’s 90th birthday. Once again, I retained Mr. Garland to seek a travel permit to California. Once again, over the State’s objections, Mr. Garland’s expertise resulted in successfully convincing the judge to grant a travel permit. In my opinion, had Mr. Garland been my attorney in 2006, the results, or at least the length of probation, would have been significantly different.

Surprise...... I'm going to jail !
I hired Mr.Garland for a BUI case. I was told the plea bargain included no jail time, however at sentencing, I was told 30 days in jail. I wanted to go to trial, as the key witness (arresting agency) would not testify. Mr.Garland told me I didn't have a case and needed to take the deal. He was not honest and did not pursue the trial, even though the fees I paid him included jury trial. For him it would be extra work that he didn't want, I really felt mislead, wished I went to trial or had someone on my side.

Response from Jeffrey Garland October 29, 2016
Everyone who enters a plea is carefully questioned by the judge about the terms of the plea and whether they have been "promised" something more than shown in the plea form. Your plea would not have been accepted unless you agreed to the terms. No judge would accept a plea from a person who refuses to identify himself or herself. I invite this "reviewer" to call my office so that we can go over the case. I have no reason to believe that this person, who claims to be anonymous, really retained my firm for representation. Perhaps Mr Anonymous will not identify himself or herself for fear of being exposed. My firm evaluates every case on the basis of the evidence and the applicable law. I am pleased to go over the details with a real person who I actually represented. Anyone who takes a moment to review the case summaries posted on my website would know that few experiences thrill me more that hearing the sound of "not guilty" or "case dismissed". What is particularly distressing is how so-called "reviewers" are employed by third parties to place false statements and unsubstantiated claims on the internet in order to raise their clients position for search engines. I caution all who have eyes that not everything you find on the internet is true. The best way to evaluate an attorney is to personally speak to him or her; and to consider the recommendations of those who you trust.
