I retained Legally Modern Law Firm because I wanted experienced representation . During my initial consultation, I met with Laura, who was personable, confident, and reassuring. She made me feel that my case was being taken seriously and that I had an advocate in my corner, so I felt optimistic about... moving forward. Initially, my experience was positive. The firm followed through with the agreed-upon filing, and my first hearing reinforced my confidence in my decision. Laura was prepared, advocated effectively, and challenged the opposing party's claims. I also want to be fair in saying that Laura herself is very kind and personable, and when I was able to speak with her directly, I generally felt heard and supported. Unfortunately, as time went on, my experience became increasingly inconsistent. As staff changed, communication and case management seemed to deteriorate. I experienced billing confusion despite having documentation that my account was current. There were also instances where scheduled meetings were missed, calendars were not updated, or I was not notified when appointments changed. Communication regarding my actual case became the biggest concern. During one hearing, opposing counsel stated that they had been attempting to contact my attorney without success. At the time, I assumed there may have been a strategic reason for the lack of communication. However, when my own attempts to obtain updates also went unanswered, it became increasingly difficult to know where my case stood. We discussed several strategic next steps for my case, and I was told that certain actions would be taken. Unfortunately, those actions did not occur, and despite repeated attempts to obtain updates, I was unable to get meaningful communication. I contacted the office by phone and email and also attempted to reach Laura directly by text. There were periods where I received little or no response. Eventually, I also discovered that the firm's website was no longer accessible, which added to my concern as a client. I understand that family law is unpredictable and that no attorney can guarantee a particular outcome. My disappointment is not based on the outcome of my case. It is based on the inconsistency in communication, missed follow-through, and difficulty obtaining information about the status of my case. Ultimately, after consulting with other attorneys, I decided that changing counsel was necessary because I no longer had confidence that my case was receiving the level of attention and follow-through I needed. That was not a decision I made lightly, particularly because I genuinely liked Laura on a personal level and had initially felt very confident in her representation. I hope this feedback is useful and encourages improvements in communication and case management. For anyone considering the firm, I would recommend asking detailed questions about how communication is handled, who will be responsible for your case day-to-day, and what response times you can realistically expect.

I had a very ugly case that had been bogged down in the court system for years. She was able to get admissions from the other side during cross of things I didn't even know about, and she exposed the other side for who they really are because she understands how to think critically and come up with a full blown strategy for the case. She told me during our first meeting that a good family law attorney has to understand the other side's psychology. She's not afraid of hard cases or challenges and she was the only one out of my attorneys who was always candid and honest and always kind.
