I hired Attorney L. Simms to assist with my divorce and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing. During the initial consultation, I clearly explained my situation and shortly after she filed a notice of divorce with the court. From there, everything went downhill — mainly due to poor ...communication and lack of follow-through from her office. Her paralegal seemed completely unprepared and kept relying on me to track down an address to serve my ex-wife, even after I explained multiple times that I didn’t know where she was living. We proceeded to the initial hearing, and of course my ex-wife didn’t show — because she had never been served. Ironically, my ex-wife later found out about the divorce on her own through a Google search and even reached out to say she agreed with it. I notified this office again, explaining that this could now be handled as an uncontested divorce — simple, mutual, and cost-effective. I followed up multiple times via email, even copying my ex-wife so they could coordinate directly. Silence. No response. No progress. Yet the one thing always communicated clearly was the fees — the $1,500 retainer was repeated to me several times and paid immediately. But after taking my money, the effort and accountability disappeared. I’m very big on communication, and this office completely dropped the ball. Now I’m out $1,500 and will have to hire a different attorney just to get this finished. I genuinely try to support my own people, but experiences like this make it difficult. I expected professionalism and reliability — instead I got avoidance and excuses.

My experience with Attorney Lakesia Simms was deeply disappointing, and I would not recommend her services to anyone seeking strong, reliable representation in family law—especially when it involves something as critical and emotional as a child custody matter. From the beginning, communication wa...s an ongoing issue. Reaching Ms. Simms directly was nearly impossible. Calls would go unanswered, and when you finally did get through, you were met with delays and the need to schedule appointments far in advance—often too late to address urgent matters like upcoming hearings. This lack of responsiveness placed my case at risk on multiple occasions and caused significant emotional distress. I often felt like I was navigating this complex and emotional process completely alone. Her paralegal, unfortunately, was equally unprofessional. Not only was she frequently difficult to reach, but she also had a consistently negative attitude. She would regularly speak about her personal life and problems, as if they were my responsibility to manage or empathize with, which was both inappropriate and frustrating given the gravity of my situation. The level of effort that went into my case was minimal at best. I would rate her communication a 2 out of 10 and her overall effort on my case no higher than a 4 or 5. It took years to make very little progress, and the end result was that I had to seek out a new attorney to finally move things forward. The difference was night and day—the new attorney was communicative, professional, and genuinely invested in helping resolve the case. Sadly, I feel that Ms. Simms was more interested in collecting fees than truly advocating for my child’s best interests. She is not a low-cost attorney by any means, which made the lack of results and professionalism even more unacceptable. Looking back, I feel that I wasted valuable time, money, and emotional energy—all of which are incredibly costly in family law matters. If you’re considering Lakesia Simms as your attorney, I would urge you to think twice. Your time, your money, and most importantly, your child’s well-being are too important to entrust to someone who may not be fully invested in your case. My experience left me with emotional distress and a sense of loss that I wouldn’t wish on anyone going through something as serious as a custody battle. I hope this helps others avoid the same mistakes I made.

We hired Ms. Simms to handle a child support issue for us in Florida as we reside in Arizona, and she did an amazing job! Ms. Simms went above and beyond for us not to mention her prices were great! After an extensive search and consultations with almost 10 attorneys, I chose Lakeisha Simms to handle my Child Support Modification case. Modification petitions are usually straight forward but mine had a few complexities to it that Ms. Simms handled competently and admirably. Nearly every one... of her predictions regarding how long the process would take to resolution, what I could expect, etc., were all dead-on accurate. Ms. Simms was professional, courteous, and usually responded quickly to any questions and concerns I had; all that in spite of losing one of their assistants during a very busy time. Furthermore, the Coleman Law Groups' rates are VERY reasonable, their billing / invoicing procedures and reports are clear and easy to understand. The level of service one receives for such reasonable rates holds a very high value proposition to me. I would not hesitate to recommend Ms. Simms and the Coleman Law Group.
