Helped me unseal my adoption record

Attorney Healey was a great help to me in having my adoption record unsealed. I learned about my adoption as an adult and spent many years trying to find my birth mother without success. After only a couple of months and two hearings the courts allowed my record to be unsealed. The presiding judge sa...id she only allowed it because Ms. Healey was the attorney and trusted her to handle it with care and discretion. I contacted approximately 10 other attorneys before finding Ms. Healey. I am very pleased and wish that I had found her sooner,.

After first speaking with Erica Tate Healey, our family felt completely confident she would be the one to help us with our adoption. She was very informative and worked very fast in getting our adoption finalized. We can say nothing but good things about our entire adoption process. Erica...'s staff was always helpful and caring when it came to our numerous questions. We want to give a special thanks to Meredith Moore, for keeping us in the loop at all times and working very diligent in giving us direction to complete things needed to be done. Blended family dual adoptions

Erica is one of the most intelligent people we have ever met. She and Kim are extremely dedicated, compassionate, and incredibly well-versed in contested adoption case law. As a blended family, my wife and I adopted our respective children. Given that we expected both cases to be contested, Erica was... assigned to both. It took a deep dive on her part into every nuance of our cases and lives to navigate us through the process, and ultimately succeed. Every part of it was terrifying except for the hearings and conference calls with Erica. Each and every time it was abundantly clear she had absolute control of the matter at hand, proceeding with honesty and confidence. I couldn't imagine another attorney completing our cases more fluently.

No Games....Just Great Results!!

I live in the Orlando area and I chose Erica and Kim to help me with my sons adoption case. Long story short, I had raised my son for years as his stepmother but really wanted to become his legal mother, and since his Bio mom had not seen him in nearly 8 years I thought it would be a good time to go ...for custody. After researching many...and I do mean MANY lawyers to help with my case, I finally decided on Erica and Kim because they seemed to be both the most relatable and the most honest about what to expect from my case. They quoted me numbers and drew up contracts right away and never surprised me with any *hidden* fees. In my particular case the birth mom was originally not going to voluntarily sign over her rights, but after speaking with Erica she quickly changed her mind and Erica was quick to respond before she could change her mind. She even found a mobile notary to go directly to the birth moms home so that she didnt have time to go back and forth on her decision. Another FANTASTIC thing about Erica and Kim was that they answered my emails and phone calls almost immediately...I'm not sure if any of you have had to deal with lawyers before but if you have, then you know how uncommon it is to get a direct phone call that easily. From the day we filed paperwork to begin the process, to the day the judge signed the decree making me my sons legal mother, I believe almost exactly 4 months had gone by. And to be honest, it probably would've been sooner but in my particular case I had to get my old state to give Florida Jurisdiction for my case. Anyway, if you need a lawyer and you want results and REAL people who will actually talk to you and NOT treat you like a number then please consider hiring Erica and Kim. They are a great team and they gave me the outcome that I had been wanting for so many years. I will forever be grateful for them.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"An acquaintance needed an aggressive attorney to help with a disputed adoption after she was taken advantage of by another attorney. Erica was amazing to jump on the matter at the last minute and showed sincere compassion for the situation. I would highly recommend Erica!"

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
