I got pulled over in October 2017 and got arrested for DUI. I blew just over the limit. I’m not one to get in trouble so I was terrified. But then I found Rick. He assured me everything was going to be okay. He showed up to all of my court dates on my behalf. He worked with me despite me having troub...le paying him on a regular schedule! He ended it with getting it knocked down to a reckless driving and probation with early termination. I also got pulled over on a suspended license which got dropped down to just a ticket and a fine. I was sitting in jail waiting for a federal marshal to come and deport me back to Canada, for a DUI charge and a possession of a controlled substance. I was facing 2 felony charges. When I say I was in jail, I mean I was in isolation or "on ice" as they put it. I could not speak to anyone. I was bei...ng treated as if I was guilty, without a trial or any legal advice. No one but my mom in MN, to help me. My mom contacted Mr. Rivera, and explained the situation. This was on the weekend by the way. My mom spoke with three different lawyers, but Rick was the only one who promised to physically go right down to the jail and find out what was going on. As promised, Rick showed up and had me out of there in less than 12 hours. He knew the law, and knew that what the system was trying to do to me was not legal. He stopped all of it immediately. The whole process took a year. Felony charges reduced, and possession was dropped. Rick was prepared to take this to trial, and almost had to, until the very end when the state offered a deal. This all happened because Rick Rivera knows the law, and does his homework. He leaves no stone untouched. That was my first case. I was charged again with DUI, and that case took three years, and did go to trial. Rick was there for every court hearing, and pre-trial functions. I did not have to be at any of them except the first, than again three years later for my trial. My life remained unchanged, because Rick Rivera took control and handled everything. He presented my case to the jury, and that jury found me not guilty. He again, did his homework. He had case files, and evidence that you really had to know what you were looking for, to know how to use. He used the state's own witnesses to prove my case. I know I would be sitting in jail or prison right now if it weren't for Rick Rivera. He stood by me through this whole process. He believed in me. I could never write the words that would adequately express the amount of gratitude that I feel. For me, there will never be another attorney. EVER!! Thank you Rick Rivera, for saving my life.
