An exceptional and passionate advocate of justice for children and fathers who truly care for them

I was referred to Wendy by a former Family Case manager at the South Palm Beach County Courthouse. After speaking to Wendy for only a few minutes, I was convinced of her genuine interest in winning my case. We both knew it would be an uphill battle, given unwritten prejudices towards men, but she ...was confident we would win. And win we did. I'm not going to say my case was a "slam dunk" from the start, but in the final analysis, but for Wendy being in my corner, and the support of my family, I would have not prevailed. Here's a brief history of my case. Around December 2009 I decided to seek a modification of my child support obligation, in light of child care payments that were included in the amount I was paying, which were not being made. I started doing this pro-se. During our initial meeting, I discussed, in detail, the history of my case with Wendy. We went to Mediation, but settling with my ex-wife, especially in matters of child support, was as impossible as the infamous "camel through the eye of a needle" story. After the mediation, Wendy suggested we didn't limit the modification to a reduction of child support. Instead, she advised we should also petition for a modification of primary residence, a/k/a custody. In February, 2010, we filed the petition. Long story short, after 9 months of what seemed to be monthly trips to the courthouse, on February 4, 2011, the Magistrate's Report and Recommendation modifying my daughter's primary residence from my ex-wife's to mine, was approved and adopted by the Court. By that time, and again thanks to Wendy, my daughter had already been living with me for a period of 8 months. It goes without saying that Wendy was an intricate part of that victory, not only by being a strong, knowledgeable, and sharp lawyer, but also by being a true advocate of justice and by making herself available, even on weekends, to fax key orders to law enforcement, so that justice for my daughter would prevail at all times. I'm not going to take much credit for this victory because I just persevered enough to win in Court and that was just the ticket to Victory. The credit, by and large, belongs to my wife and my step-children, who despite of not being blood relatives to my daughter, have truly become her family and a rock upon which my daughter has found strength and salvation. Of course, it's axiomatic that credit is also due, and in no small part, to my lawyer, Wendy Hausmann, for seeing the path to victory through the proverbial "fog of war."

Wonderful ally in a spiteful divorce

Wendy provided great guidance in my divorce, resulting in a fair settlement. My ex was a business owner who had all the resources of his business to fund his divorce proceedings. He had left me with 2 kids, a house in pre-foreclosure proceedings and mountain of debt. Wendy listened carefully to... understand a complicated financial and business landscape of our situation, and provided good advice on how to proceed. During our first mediation, my ex turned very hostile. Even the mediator was surprised by the anger and deviousness that my ex displayed. Wendy, despite her small stature, stood up to him and called him out on several inconsistencies (such as pointing out that his rent exceeded his claimed income). He intended to back me into a corner and tell me what I was going to get - and she would have no part of that. Our second mediation ended with a substantial settlement and child support for me. This was a best case scenario, despite the fact I was entitled to alimony. Wendy pointed out that I would have to pursue him for alimony for the rest of my life. By taking a settlement instead, I could finally get him out of my life. I appreciate her ability to advise me in what would be best for my peace of mind going into the future. I am happily moved on, and always grateful for her assistance.

A Powerful Ally in a High Conflict Divorce

She's petite, smiles and looks like your favorite elementary school teacher. Don't be fooled. Ms. Hausmann is a powerhouse -- knowledgeable, diligent, straightforward and always prepared. My situation hit all four of her areas of expertise: divorce, timesharing, child support and domestic viol...ence. I walked in scared out of my mind, and by the end of the first hearing, I was taking my first deep breath in months. Documents are filed on time. Motions are complete and clearly worded. I am kept up-to-date, and my phone calls are always returned within a (very) reasonable amount of time. In spite of the fact that my former husband does not obey Court Orders (whether they be Protective, Child Support or otherwise,) Ms. Hausmann cuts through the chaos to help build a clear court record. She has a good memory. That way, there is forward progress, even when former husband does not tell the truth under oath, or we have a new Judge or Magistrate. Did I mention that she's organized, winsome and professional in the Courtroom? You can see that the Judges, Magistrates and other Court personnel respect her. I feel that Attorney Hausmann allows a Judge to hear the information he or she needs to make a decision that is in the best interest of my child. I highly recommend Wendy Hausmann as a Family Law Practitioner.

Never Give Up

I was referred to Wendy Hausmann by a mutual friend going through a divorce. I had it a little tougher than most as my ex left me in excruciating debt. I learned that our house of 15 years was being foreclosed upon by the bank, the cars were being repossessed, and every dime we had saved was gone. ... He picked up one day and left me with 3 children and went to live with his new girlfriend. He was a convicted felon who didn't pay his taxes and stopped working on the books. My ex left me homeless and penniless. Wendy and I mediated an amazing settlement in terms of child support, alimony and even a pay plan based on my ex having to file bankruptcy (which he never did). With Wendy's smarts she negotiated a settlement based on my ex's girlfriends earnings as my ex claimed to be indigent. For almost 5 years now I have not been able to get a dime as my ex would go to court, claim to be indigent, and pleaded to the judge to allow him to try and find work. After a few years, he simply stopped showing up for court. Wendy stood by me and propped me up and supported me. She insisted that I never give up. She had me try to serve him over and over again. Just when I thought things were hopeless, Wendy introduced me to a funny little process server who practically lived out of his car. He was persistent and hunted my ex down. I finally had him served, but still he would not show up for court. Wendy insisted that we continue to fight and this week she and I went back to court. The judge finally ruled with a "writ of bodily attachment". My ex would finally be arrested for making a mockery of the court and ignoring his child support responsibilities. A fine was assessed and I expect that after his arrest, I will finally start to find justice. Wendy Hausmann was my rock during the past 5 years. She was not only one of the most brilliant attorneys I have ever known, she is a kind, compassionate, caring, supportive, loving woman who truly cares for her clients. She has given me the strength to carry on and pursue my ex, and above all, she has taught me to never give up. Hire Wendy and you will never be sorry. She believes in fairness and will always guide you in the right direction. She will work within your budget to make sure that you are not victimized again with staggering legal fees and will stay in your corner until justice is served. Wendy has become a true friend and a member of my extended family. She is one of the good guys and will always work hard for you.

Post Divorce Distress

Im sure many people (men) in my position can relate to this. After almost a year of fighting and shelling out what felt like 100,000,000 to lawyers I was finally divorced. I was "FREE" ... except for one small nagging problem. Alimony ... I was married for 20 years and was stupid enough to make a go...od living and take care of my family so my X did not work for 15 of those years. never considering the consequences of my actions. PEMIMENT PIEIOTIC ALIMONY. Now I was got to pay every week to stay away from her and keep from getting sued ... again ... I also had child support. that I understand, except in my case my kids were with me 80% of the time. after a year of this I decided to act. to go back to court and stop this madness. the only way I could even think about it was to go Pro Se. So I was just faced with endless confusing, endless, detailed court forms and procedures. I needed help in the worst way and I was scared to death. I learned about Wendy Hausmann form a mutual source and contacted her. She responded to me the same day I called her and we talked for 20min !! about what I was going through and what I was trying to accomplish. We scheduled a meeting on the same call I met her in her office the next day. Wendy understood in was in a financial jam and offered to help me on an hourly basis. her rates where the best I had even seen and all I had to do was give her 3 or 4 hours or retainer money. Simple and easy. Then we went to work. Wendy guided me through all the steps. Taught me how to research things myself so I could stretch my retainer dollars out as much as possible. With Wendy's help I was able to do everything I needed to do to prepare for my day in court. The week I actually went in we met foe a dry run on how I should behave in front of the judge and how not to be intimidated by opposing counsel. My day in court went very well. I was able to reverse the support order and my X had to pay me support !! .. I could never have done this without Wendy's help and guidance and her ability to explain complex court procedures, rules and behavior in a relaxed, friendly and professional manner. Since then Wendy and I have worked together on a few other post divorce items and each time we did I was confident I was getting exactly the information I needed and always in a timley manner. I would recommend Wendy Hausmann as an excellent choice for representation in any matter.
