Expensive but good. Overall I'm happy. PTI Program for low level felony.

He's a good lawyer. Definitely pricey and a little arrogant but overall I'm happy. His cost was between $3-$4k for a first offender low level felony. He got me into a PTI first offender program which is like a watered down (still serious) probation the main difference with this program is after succe...ssful completion of the program the judge 'Disposes' the case My only complaint is that when I go and write my last payment to him (in the courthouse) he whacks me in person for another $50-$75 for "Daily Parking and Lunch" lol what the heck is that. We agreed on $3500 and I get to pay for your parking for lunch at the last second. Other then being a little tardy due to Mr. Foley having other cases in the same courthouse on the same day and this little hiccup for his "lunch money" he got me a decent deal. In my situation I probably could have shopped around and found someone cheaper but I waited till the last second. Overall I'm happy.. If there was a way on AVVO to rate him somewhere in the middle of 4 and 5 stars that's what I'd give him. He's a one man army (no associates). This is nice because when you hire Foley you get Foley, not some junior lawyer. Next time we meet I'll make sure to bring him a brown bag lunch so I can avoid the $75 unauthorized charge.

Thank you for the 4.5 star review. I am happy that overall you were happy with my firm. However, any fees charged for costs were not for my lunch. Please contact my office as I would like to clear up the issue as clients are never billed for my lunch. I have had a client's family pay for my lunch once in 11 years after a case that was dismissed at trial. I have never billed a client for anything other than costs. For example, photocopies, collect calls, cd, Cads, depositions, 911 audio copies, parking, etc. I do not charge for parking at my broward office but at palm beach court house its $10 per court visit. Again, thank you for the positive review and I will gladly check out your costs and review them with you.

Simply put, Arrogance-personified

Early this year I called Mr. Foley's office about a legal situation I had. I called his Office multiple times and no one picked up the phone and it was after 1pm in the afternoon. When I did speak to a paralegal/secretary from his Office, she told me that Mr. Foley will contact me sometime that day. ...He did not. Ditto, the following day around 1pm in the afternoon I called his Office again to inform her that Mr. Foley didn't contact me. Eventually Mr. Foley did contact me. When Mr. Foley finally contacted me, he immediately started accusing me of talking to him personally about something I had no idea of. After explaining to him that I never spoken to him a day in my life prior to day, he simmered down. When I started explaining to Mr. Foley about my situation, he was more concerned about my previous Attorney and why I am no longer working him anymore. I didn't want to rehash the whole situation about how my previous Attorney was on my case for 2 years and didn't even know, or wouldn't tell me atleast, that the Search Warrant in question was "facially deficient" (No Particularity) or the fact that he never file a Motion to Compel to get the Search Warrant Affidavit for the aforesaid Search Warrant to see what the officer actually alleges about me; rather I just told Mr. Foley my previous Attorney told me and the Court (Status Hearing) that he will file a Motion to Suppress which he never did. Mr. Foley didn't care about that, he was more caught up on some ego stuff about him being the "Quarterback" and not me. Mr. Foley wasn't concerned about the merits/facts of my case (e.g. me being arrested in my house without a warrant). I told Mr. Foley that my case is 95% done, I just need someone to file a Motion to Suppress. The only thing Mr. Foley was concerned with throughout the conversation was his Ego and then had the nerve to ask me for $21,000 to take on the case.

Thank you for your feedback, and while I may not recall every detail of our alleged interaction, I want to address your concerns with transparency and provide context for my approach. Phone Communication: While it’s uncommon for calls to go unanswered in my office due to our system, I recognize that delays in returning calls can happen, especially when I’m traveling or in court. If there was any delay in reaching you, I sincerely apologize. Clear and prompt communication is critical, and I’ll ensure that my team and I continue to prioritize it. Initial Conversation: I understand that first impressions matter, and I regret if my tone or approach during our conversation was misinterpreted. I strive to approach every case with respect, focus, and professionalism. However, I recognize that I’ve used a “quarterback” analogy in the past, and I believe it’s important to clarify its meaning. My role as your attorney is to act as the quarterback—you, as the client, are the coach. My job is to gather the facts, present you with all possible options, and, once you choose the direction, execute the play to the best of my ability. This analogy is not meant to diminish the client’s role but to emphasize teamwork and shared responsibility in the legal process. Questions About Previous Counsel: When a client has had prior representation, it’s crucial for me to understand why that relationship ended. It’s not about judgment but about ensuring I have a clear understanding of the client’s expectations, any potential obstacles, and the dynamics that led to dissatisfaction. This information helps me determine how best to approach the case and whether I’m the right fit to take it on. Case Status and Strategy: When I hear statements like “the case is 95% done,” I approach them with caution. From your description, critical steps like obtaining the search warrant affidavit, reviewing discovery, and filing motions had not yet been completed. These are essential components of a strong defense. In such situations, a thorough review of the docket and case file is necessary to ensure no stone is left unturned. Legal cases are rarely as straightforward as they may seem, and rushing to file a motion without full preparation can jeopardize the outcome. Fee Structure: My quoted fee of $21,000 reflects the complexity and amount of work still required to build a strong defense. While this may seem high for a case you believed was nearly complete, my responsibility as your attorney is to prepare comprehensively. This includes not just filing motions but also conducting legal research, reviewing discovery, and potentially preparing for trial. Proper representation requires time, effort, and expertise to ensure the best possible outcome. I understand your frustration and regret that we were unable to establish a stronger rapport during our initial consultation. My goal is always to provide straightforward and honest advice, even if it’s not what someone wants to hear. Note: Had I seen this review earlier, I would have responded promptly. It seems likely that the case has already concluded, and based on my alleged fee quote, it appears to have involved a second-degree felony. Cases of this nature, without the proper legal motions being filed and granted, often result in incarceration or probation. While I understand that you may not be available at this time to provide further details due to incarceration, I encourage you, when possible, to share your name and the jurisdiction of the case. This would allow curious readers to better understand the results and the complexities of handling serious charges like a second-degree felony. Thank you.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
