I am one of about 215 of the over 110,000 lawyers in Florida that is Board Certified in business litigation. Board certification means I have been recognized for my experience and expertise through many bench and jury trials, passed a special exam, and have been approved by Judges and lawyers. I have also been appointed by the President of the Florida Bar as the Chair of the Committee that oversees business litigation board certification and appointed to the Florida Supreme Court's Committee that writes jury instructions for business and contract cases.
I am AV-Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest recognition lawyers can achieve for legal ability and ethical standards.
I am proudly a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only organization of less than one-half of one percent of all attorneys in America.
Business/commercial litigation includes contract disputes, business torts, trade secrets, trademarks, UCC consumer claims, license and franchise agreement litigation, creditor’s rights, and corporate governance issues and dissolutions. I also litigate real estate contract and land-use disputes, construction and lien disputes, commercial mortgage foreclosures, special asset prosecutions, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, and represent clients in securities and commercial arbitrations, bankruptcy adversary cases, and independent actions in probate.
I am licensed to practice in all Florida State trial and appellate Courts and am authorized to practice before the U.S. Federal District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, and the Eleventh Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta. I am also a member of the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court and am licensed before the U.S. Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
I formerly proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps where I represented service members in courts-martial and administrative hearings.
I earned my law degree from the University of Miami and my Bachelor’s from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I speak Japanese, some Korean, and am an Eagle Scout. I enjoy scuba diving, underwater photography, and golf.
