People who can’t draw boundaries can’t keep promises. -- Does a lawyer have an interest in constantly digging deeper into their topic of law? Are they unhappy when they know they don’t have a clear answer to a question? You can tell by their attitude, by their hesitation before answering questions that might need thought, by the clarity of their explanations. -- Does a lawyer take themselves and their work seriously? You can tell by their procedures, by their staff, by their thoughtfulness, by their professionalism. -- Does a lawyer make you do their work for them? Do you have to ask the hard questions to discover how to protect yourself, or will they be ahead of you and proactive? -- Do they have the right kind of experience and will they be clear in helping you understand their experience and how it’s relevant to you? I could continue, but these are the kinds of personal attributes I was searching for in a lawyer, and I finally found two I was ready to try, ending up with Larry Davis. You must judge for yourself, but my experience with Larry was outstanding. He gave the right signals as I interviewed him on the phone before signing a retainer, and he was exactly the kind of elite professional he appeared to be. He was professional, friendly, punctual, pro-active, straightforward, clear and knowledgeable, had the right experience, and satisfied all of my most important concerns. Unwilling to just take advice on authority, I asked many pointed and detailed questions, asking Larry to clearly explain his viewpoint, which he could and did. He helped me research cash buyers for red flags, leading me to eliminate some and favor others. He reviewed many sale contracts in advance at my request, and facilitated an easy closing remotely (I live in another state). He helped educate on the various risks so that I could plan and make good decisions. In the end, my sale went without a hitch, I got the price I wanted, and everything turned out well.
