Biography
Andrew Pickett has been a resident of Brevard County since 1987 and graduated from Satellite High School in 2000. He graduated from the University of Virginia, where he was a four-year varsity swimmer. Andrew went on to obtain his law degree (J.D.) from the University of Florida and his Masters in Law (LL.M) from the University of Miami.
Andrew began his legal career as a prosecutor at the State Attorney's Office in the 18th Circuit in Brevard County, where he handled thousands of cases, ranging from simple misdemeanors to serious felonies. In 2011, Andrew was awarded the State Attorney's OfficePride in Excellence Attorney of the Year Award. By the end of his tenure as a prosecutor, Andrew had tried to verdict over forty jury trials and handled numerous appeals.
Andrew is a member of the Brevard County Bar Association and served as 2012-2013 president of the Brevard County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. In 2012, he was elected to represent the 18th Circuit on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors. He is also active in the Vassar B. Carlton American Inn of Court, where he received the Member of the Year Award in 2011.
Andrew is a graduate of Leadership Brevard Class of 2012 and currently serves on the board of directors for the Friends of the Children's Advocacy Center of Brevard and the Space Coast Tiger Bay Club. He volunteers as a judge for the 18th Circuit Teen Court program and the Florida Supreme Court Justice Teaching Program, where he teaches students in Brevard County about the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Andrew is also a part-time instructor in the Law Enforcement Academy and the Paralegal Program at Eastern Florida State College. Andrew competed in the 2013 Dancing With Brevard fundraiser to benefit the KLD Youth Foundation and was named byFlorida Today as one of Ten to Watch in 2013.
