Jonathan Robert Simon

I met Jonathan for a consultstion - he presented himself as the go-getter attorney. I hired him to handle a mediation and he took payment. Jonathan showed up for the mediation meeting, but dropped everythting thereafter and would not respond to calls or emails from me or the opposing counsel. He wa...s very passive and quiet - and barely said anything during the mediation. I felt unrepeesented. Needless to say, I am very dissapointed I had to go through this and spend money for services that were not provided.

I hired Jonathan to handle my divorce case in part based on the overwhelming positive reviews on this website. Jonathan was very friendly and knowledgeable in our consultation and I got the impression he had a firm grasp on my case. Unfortunately, throughout the process i got the feeling my case wa...s at the bottom of his to-do list. I had to push to get information about my case...we really only had communication when I reached out and requested a meeting or phone conference. In fact, the majority of all communication in my case was between myself and the business valuation expert (I had to pay for separately) which ended up handling ALL of the case financial information which i thought was part of Jonathan's job. Jonathan was never the aggressive attorney that really fought to get the best deal for me. We were able to settle the divorce in mediation although Jonathan did not have much input throughout that process either...I left mediation with the feeling that i had handled it myself and probably walked away giving up a lot more than I should have. After reading the previous review I had no clue Jonathan was changing company names or switching companies or whatever is happening there so that may have been part of the issue. Bottom line is Jonathan was not a cheap attorney but i feel like my case did not receive a reasonable amount of attention for any cost.

DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN_ you are making a big mistake. THese reviews on here are OLD and outdated. I hired this attorney in April 2018. He was running Orlando Legal. He was my lawyer in my divorce case, There were many times I waited a 4-7 days for a response to my emails. He blamed it on his paralegal ...and told me to contact him directly. Which I did, and the communication was good for one week and returned to even worse.. It became worse on my mediation August 7, 2018. It was supposed to be on video, he told me 3 days before mediation it would have to be by phone, that he did not have an apple device to facetime with. I gave Mr. Simon everything he needed- hard paper copies - to get a fair and reasonable outcome on my divorce at mediation. When I met him he went on and on about how he has a database with all of my information on it, and how great he is at mediation. The day of mediation, he had no knowledge of anything. He blamed it on poor wifi and not being able to connect to his database with his computer. He could not access any of my numbers, comps for the boat, and cars, he had no idea what was going on. I was hysterical, trying to find the papers that I sent him, with copies of the comps for the cars and boat- trying to find the correct financial figures- Mr. Simon had nothing. Here I was by speaker phone with the mediator, while Jonathan gave excuses and apologized for his computer and not being able to access my information. He should have had at least paper copies of the financial affidavit I gave him. My husbands attorney ended up running the show- while MR. Simon put me on hold. There were many mistakes made in Mediation- they even used the wrong income for my husband, the child support ratio was wrong, the AIG tax penalty on a life insurance policy was off by $11,000!!! There were so many mistakes even the mediator didn't catch them. I called it a "Manipulation" not mediation. Mr. Simon advised me it was the best I would get. I terminated him two weeks later, and hired a new attorney who created an addendum to my marital settlement agreement with opposing counsel. With the addendum my child support was increased from $300 to $863. AND I received the $11,000 cash from my ex for the tax penalty mistake. IF I didn't do due diligence to my divorce, this would have been overlooked. HOW CAN THIS BE? I wanted the settlement thrown out due to lawyer incompetence and mistakes found after the fact-, however there is NOTHING in the law to protect you when you put your finances and trust in a lawyer like this. Do not believe anything you can not put your trust in this person- Before Mediation I had a credit of $5,677.50. Mediation was only 6 hours. I have money owed to me, I have fulfilled my obligation of the contract which states my money would be refunded if I terminated him, and hired another attorney to represent me and substitute him in court. I have written him weekly for the last two months asking him for a statement of my account and a refund. To this day 9/27/18 He will not respond to my emails, and phone calls, He since changed the name of his firm to Simon Family Firm, and Orlando Family Firm. I called Orlando Legal and was told it was not operational anymore. I have tracked him down and have all of his current emails and phone numbers and he is still not responding to my calls. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN. He is overpriced, ineffective, does not communicate in a timely manner and has broken every ethical "Law" the Florida Bar sets on a lawyer. DO NOT HIRE- no matter what he says, MOVE ON. There are too many good lawyers out there, DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS GUY.

Jonathan and his team members performed an excellent service in my case! I was quite skeptical when my fiancée first mentioned about Jonathan and his firm. I had a horrible attorney at that time; besides, I was very distraught due to the situation my son’s mother put me through. After one-hour free c...onsultation with Jonathan, I knew that he was the right person to represent me! He was patient yet professional – He described the procedures and outcomes in detail; he also explained his strategy in depth, and that gesture put me in ease. Jonathan’s partner Michael Vaghaiwalla and paralegal Liz Santiago were also very diligent and dedicated. They responded promptly to me whenever I had questions. I am glad to say that I won the case because of Jonathan and his expertise! I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs professional help in family law areas. You will not regret to have Jonathan on your side! Thank you, Jonathan, with all my gratitude!

Jonathan is a good person but failed me miserably. We were supposed to be looking for hidden money but he refused to depose anyone. Instead he asked some questions in a social setting to someone I wanted deposed. I provided all kinds of charts and information to indicate missing money every month,... but he totally ignored my efforts. My wife continued to tell the same lie about one chunk of money, and when I proved her lie he still ignored the fact that people lie for a reason. I do not think he ever believed me. The final dagger was our exchange of emails the day before we were scheduled for trial. Negotiations were so bad (she was getting everything) that I finally told him that I wanted to go to trial because I did not think that any Judge would see it the way he saw it. He told me that if I wanted to go to trial it would be without him,because he did to feel we would win. He told me to fire him and to tell the Judge anything I wanted. After years of dragging this on I could no longer afford to continue,and since he "dropped" my last invoice I did what he asked and agreed....to save my sanity.
