Delay. and drain is her whole strategy, drop you when it matters

Do not hire Sabina!!! RUN!! Go anywhere else!!! She talks a good game, I had other professionals reaching out to her and referring clients in similar situations based on my word. Over six months, Ms. Tomshinsky never provided a clear strategy despite repeated requests or realistic cost estimate despi...te knowing my financial limits (what she means is I will bill you till you bleed out then drop you). Then she deeply pads her billables, will not address domestic violence as recognized by the State of Florida, practices "Delay and Drain" tactics while not moving the case forward until you run out of money then withdraws a week before mediation (which she postponed for months to avoid acting) leaving you on your own, and continues to encourage you to "wait and see how mediation goes" and overtly (in writing) lies stating she will work with you financially, while simultaneously stating she has no obligation to attempt to negotiate prior. Her documentation to the court is good but when it is time to actually defend you, she takes the money and runs. We started with her saying it probably won't get past the initial $4000 retainer though went 6 months with no actual progress and no effort to resolve the matter while she charged unreasonable $4000-$7000 per month ($7000 in the first 3 weeks and multiple months after). Even when she was well aware of the financial constraints. In fact, right before withdrawing a week prior to mediation, she submitted a motion for relief/temporary support indicating the dire need for support and supported the opposing party to remain silent (this became a consistent pattern of allowing the opposing party to set the pace and direction) despite the dire need and later suggested the motion be heard 2 months after scheduled mediation. She is the typical money for nothing attorney while causing substantial hardship by falsifying/padding her billing. Just to review a document costs at least $1000 (3+ hours of her time). Every email turns into another $1000. Clear evidence of stalking, cyberstalking, and harassment (including former cease and desist notices for stalking and violence) gets a pat on the head with 0 investigation or efforts towards protection. Even to the effective point of supporting DV. When you get her to actually reach out to opposing counsel about this evidence, she says, oh they say they didn't do it, they must be right and you must be wrong, despite irrefutable evidence. She will not act in your best interests and will drop you if you push. Be prepared to learn and use your rights.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
