Stephen G. Cobb is the only certified criminal trial lawyer in a three county area. He has practiced criminal law exclusively since 1990 and opened his own firm in 1997. In 2002, he became certified in criminal trial law by the Florida Bar, purusant to the Rules of the Florida Supreme Court and administered by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Education and Specialization. Board Certification is what the legal profession uses to rate lawyers in Florida. Less than 1% of the lawyers in Florida are officially Bar Certified as specialists in criminal law, and almost 90% of lawyers attempting to pass the certification exam the last time it was given, failed. Replied last December 20, 2013Thank you - that was one of the hardest, longest, and scariest homicide jury trials I have ever litigated. The trial lasted over a week, the jury was seemingly out forever, and I will never forget your sigh of relief when the verdict was published. To me, it was very clear that the confusion at the scene, along with the upset the witnesses felt over the death of the decedent, caused the witnesses to jump to false conclusions about your guilt. The jury examined the evidence very carefully, and in my opinion, by the time the second State expert admitted you could not have been involved based upon the scientific facts and evidence, the conclusion was obvious and you were ultimately acquitted. Although pleased with the jury's verdict, I am not pleased that you were forced to go through the terrifying trial process. All three (3) charges should have been voluntarily dropped by the government before the jury was selected.
