Veracity is not her strength

I wanted wait until I heard from my attorney in VA before I posted any reviews, long story short I would have to hire an attorney in FL to recover any of the $7500 Ms. Lonker obtained from me for work she did not complete. Certainly, I would spend more than $7500 on an attorney and I'd prefer to spe...nd my time and money on warning the general public of the unethical practices of this firm. I was referred to Ms. Lonker by one of her high school friends from Roanoke, VA to see if she could help me in obtaining emergency guardianship of a family friend who has been abandoned in FL by his family. I spoke with her once on the phone never to speak with her again. She was in a "meeting" she was "out of town" and I had the pleasure of speaking with Shawna, her assistant, who always was sure to mention she worked for two attorneys and always had to go to the doctor. Time was passing and my friend was slipping into a deeper state of dementia, which could have possibly been avoided had Ms. Lonker actually did what she said she could do. In the beginning I believed she had the motivation to help us, but now the only part of our only conversation that resonates is that she mentioned she knew the importance of moving quickly on a case like this because she had a client whose husband actually died during the process. It took the office, after several phone calls, one month to produce the initial paperwork, which required a lot of information from me to complete (information I could have provided from the beginning if they knew the paperwork require to take on this case). During the extended amount of time, it took to receive the paperwork I called to give them several opportunities to get out of the case as it appeared they were unable to efficiently or effectively process this case. I was assured it was possible and every time they said I would have something by "8pm" the next day. I would give them a week and then I would follow up. By the time I received the paperwork my family friend had fallen deep into dementia, and he was beyond my taking care of him in my home. I sent an email to this effect and had not heard back from their office for an extended amount of time. In addition to this lack of communication I never received an itemized invoice to reflect how the retainer had been utilized to this point. To add insult to injury, Ms. Lonker took it upon herself to discuss my character with my friend who recommended me to her. Please do yourself a favor and steer clear of this attorney. I wish I read the reviews on the Google platform before signing the retainer and sending her $7500. Not only am I out of the money, but I also have no idea where my family friend is in Florida. My heart is broken.

I was disappointed, but guess it could have been worse

Our phone consultation was awesome and I felt very comfortable hiring Ms. Lonker to represent my son. We tried to have a meeting with her asap before the case was filed, but she was sick so we waited over a week. After our meeting, she told us upon reading the police report, she felt that she had to ...file a motion to suppress. She expressed that my son should not have been charged with the felony that he was charged with. As we were leaving, she asked Shawna to see if the case had been filed. Shawna said yes. Ms. Lonker said, "OH NO" I waited too long. She told us we needed to be in court in two days. She called when we got home to accept a crazy plea deal. The plea deal was very misleading and very unfair. I feel she definitely dropped the ball, took our money and did absolutely nothing to get my son a better outcome. Not to mention, she gave us wrong information and also didn't tell us very important information that luckily we found out on our own or he would have been charged again! My son was innocent of the felony that he was charged with and is still paying for a crime he didn't commit. He is only 19, and his life is ruined. I guess $4,000 for a couple of hours work isn't bad for her, but we are paying for our decision for the rest of our lives.

She took the fear from my shoulders

I was nervous...about everything. From getting a divorce to even meeting with a lawyer. Whitney shouldered my fear & guided me through the very emotional divorce process with the utmost compassion, truth & ethics. She was aggressive when she needed to be & I really know she had my true best interests... at heart. She guided me through the law like a teacher & held my hand like a friend. I feel forever indebted to her for always making me feel cared for & important. If you follow her advice, she will not lead you astray. I recommend her to everyone who needs anything in law.

UNPROFESSIONAL

I hired Whitney Lonker who works for this firm because told me she was aggressive, honest & responded quickly. However, she quickly proved to be neither of the latter two. Whitney was supposed to represent me at my injunction. She sent forms for a Divorce & Injunction at a higher cost, which I qu...estioned her on via VM several times and she never responded. She did call me the day before and worked out an agreement with my wife. At 6am the morning of & said she called me and said she was sick and would not be able to attend. I asked to have someone from her office represent me & she said "no". The day before the injunction she worked out with my wife & her attorney was a dismissal of the case. The judge was upset with Whitney & he called her "UNPROFESSIONAL" for not filing the correct forms stating she was representing me in court. Whitney told me she would have the consent forms to me within two business days. A week goes by & she puts me off & tells me "I've been working on them & will have them to you tomorrow". This goes on for weeks when she suddenly sends me an email asking for my wife's information so she can start the paperwork. During that time I was sending emails following up on forms & asking her to call me as promised. She scheduled several phone meetings with me, but never called me and never answered her phone when I called. It would take her days to return my phone call. I ended up firing her due to lack of response, broken promises to send me consent forms. I had to email her boss requesting some form of refund and the consent forms. He threatened to bill me for his time during the negotiating and promised to refund some money and send consent forms. I did receive a small refund, but I never received the consent forms, which was the only reason I dismissed the injunction in the first place. However, she billed me anyways for reading ALL emails & time negotiating & meetings discussing consent, but she can't produce forms. At this point, I've filed an injunction against my wife per Whitney Lonker, she didn't appear in court as promised & nobody showed up to represent me, she took days and sometimes a week to respond to my emails or phone calls, she could not produce the consent form as promised and waited three weeks to tell me she needs my wife's personal information. Keep in mind during that three weeks she kept telling me she was working on the forms and will have them to me shortly. She had three meetings with my wife's attorney and never asked for it. She talked to me several times and had a 45 minute meeting once and never asked for it. DO NOT HIRE WHITNEY LONKER...she has delayed everything promised to me and has never supplied me with the agreed upon deal we worked out with my wife. She has billed me for the time she spent reading my emails asking her to call me as promised and emails asking for the consent forms sent to me as promised. I had to select Divorce as the case she was handling because Injunction was not available.

Satisfaction Guaranteed! Awesome Lawyer!

I hired Whitney in a personal injury case. I got rear ended and was injured terribly. Whitney came to my house personally each time we had to meet so that I didn't have to feel any more pain than necessary or go through the pain of traveling to her office. She truly cared for my best interests and... the interests of my family. She kept me informed every step of the way and fought hard to recover what I deserved. I am so glad that I chose Whitney as my representative. Although we met as lawyer and client, we ended up as friends. She is really unconventional and wonderful. I would definitely recommend that you use her as she is really a great person.
