Joseph D. Pickles is a partner with Orr Cook and is a civil litigator with significant experience handling jury and non-jury trials, as well as matters in arbitration. Joseph has practiced in both Federal and state courts throughout the state of Florida. In addition to general complex litigation matters, Joseph focuses his practice on business and commercial litigation and probate and trust litigation. Joseph has represented clients in partnership, corporate, real estate, and contract disputes; employment litigation; and construction disputes. He also has substantial experience in probate and trust litigation, including fiduciary litigation and will contests.
Joseph has been named among the Best Lawyers in America® in commercial litigation and has received an AV Preeminent rating by his peers reflecting high ethical standards and legal ability. Joseph has also been recognized by Florida Super Lawyers as a Rising Star. A Florida native, Joseph attended the University of Florida, receiving his B.A. in Political Science with a Minor in Business Administration. Joseph obtained his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University. While in law school, he served as the Senior Articles Editor for the Nova Law Review.
Joseph is active in the community and the Florida Bar. He has been recognized by the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid for his outstanding service, and he volunteers his time as a coach for youth soccer and basketball teams. Joseph is currently serving on the Constitutional Judiciary Committee of the Florida Bar, and previously served on the Florida Bar’s Judicial Administrative and Evaluation Committee. Joseph is also a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association and the Trial Lawyers Section and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar.
