Amazing!

Mr. Purvis is among the very best! He is a kind, compassionate, insightful, knowledgeable, and an overall amazing attorney. He listens intently and provides the best possible council for the case. Having consulted others, I was impressed by his ability to accurately understand my concerns, to explain... the divorce process as it relates to my case, to be able to easily answer my questions and to alleviate my anxiety rather effortlessly. As compared to others, Mr. Purvis offers services that are very reasonably priced. Unfortunately, at the time of my consult he was a bit above what I could afford otherwise I would have definitely hired his representation without a second thought. Highly recommended!

Amazing!

In 2013, my ex husband filed a false court order abruptly keeping my child in Georgia after Summer visitation. I was immediately referred to the Manely Firm, where I was assigned David Purvis. I can never properly express my gratitude to everyone at the Manely Firm, but mostly David, for the manner... in which my case was handled. David and Michael Manely took me on in a very emotional state, explained how and why my ex husband filed the paperwork he did, and how they were going to correct it. Instead of engaging in dirty tactics with the opposing council, David took the high road throughout the entire course of our case. He made sure the judge heard only the facts and as a result I now, once again, have primary custody of my child. He was also recently able to help recover a portion of my attorney's fees. Not only was David easily accessible, engaged, professional and thorough during the course of our case, he was also extremely compassionate and understanding. I could not imagine having another attorney or firm represent us, ever.

The other reviews are very old.

He may have been on top of his game when he was fresh, but my experience wasn't anywhere near as good as the reviews I found. (Which is why I hired him) I liked his demeanor, and he seemed quite confident. He knew my wife's attorney, and I believe that was the downfall for my case. He kept saying tha...t her attorney was fair, and reasonable making her easy to negotiate with since I wanted to be fair and reasonable. There wasn't a huge sum of money, and he felt we would agree fairly quickly. I trusted his opinion, and now I'm paying for it. I'm going to explain my grades per item Trustworthy: I believe so. I don't feel he did anything wrong other than not put in the time on my case Responsive: I initiated most if not all contact. I had to email him a couple of days before mediation. I felt that was very poor, and made me understand that I was not a priority for him. Knowledgable: I really can't say one way or the other on that. There wasn't enough communication for me to really give a fair opinion. Kept me informed: See responsive... I ended up paying around $4000 for a "free" consultation, 5-10 emails, and 3-4 phone calls. Not to mention the $225 fee for mediation center that should have been avoided. Her lawyers demands were far too absurd to even consider a negotiation. His fee was reasonable compared to most, and the reviews were very good is why I went to him. This is only my experience. The fact remains that this is what happened to me. Now I'm faced with court, and I can't afford counsel. I hope this review will at least have you do your homework better than I did. I under estimated my case as well. I found good reviews, and used them. I wasn't looking for blood. I was looking to get out of a miserable marriage, and just wanted a paperwork pusher.

Mediation was court-mandated in this case, as it is in almost every domestic relations case in this jurisdiction. The $225 mediation fee charged by this jurisdiction and paid to the mediation office is far lower than what mediation costs parties in most every other jurisdiction in the state. That said, I cannot somehow force the opposing party to agree to our offers any more than they can force my client to accept theirs. The statement that mediation could have been avoided is as far from the truth as it could possibly be. Quite frankly, there were a number of facts specific to this case that caused the parties to be at polar opposite ends in their definitions of what would be a “fair and reasonable” resolution. The case will be decided by a judge. That’s what happens when the parties cannot reach an agreement at court-ordered mediation. Additionally, this client’s statement that there were 5-10 emails total is completely false. This client emailed myself and my staff 34 times in a 3 month period. There were 40 emails from myself and the paralegal to this client in the same time period. I responded to almost all of this client’s emails within an hour of receiving them. To my knowledge, I did not miss a phone call from this client. That said, as my time is billed, unless I need something from a client, I don’t tend to initiate contact, but I do respond in a very timely manner when they need something from me. This client emailed me six days before mediation wanting to meet beforehand. As with the majority of our communications I responded within an hour and scheduled a phone conference to address his remaining questions about mediation. Our consultations are free. We believe in allowing potential clients the opportunity to meet with our attorneys with no strings attached. This client, like all others, had no obligations to us. He decided to retain us. What he overlooks in this review is that not only were our fees reasonable compared to others in the area, they were a full 40% less than opposing counsel’s in this case. Despite that, I knew every document (some 500-600 pages total) in this case and knew every detail relevant to the case. There were, in fact, significant assets at issue in this case. All that said, if opposing counsel’s “demands were far too absurd to even consider negotiating” (negotiation being the key aspect of a mediation), there’s not much else that could be done at mediation. Nothing happened to this client. We attended court mediation which did not yield a settlement. That happens sometimes. The next step is to have the judge or a jury decide the issues of this case. This client elected to proceed to that next step without me as his attorney, which he is free to do.

David Purvis, Manely Firm PC/All Family Law

I wanted to take this opportunity to provide a very positive rating for Mr. Purvis. Although the divorce case between my spouse and I should have been very straight forward/simplistic (ie: no children or custody issues), there were times that my spouse became quite irrational and caused our case to ...move from uncontested to contested. Mr Purvis' experience and knowlegde assured me this was not only unfortunate and unnecessary, but was confident it could still be pursued as uncontested divorce. Mr Purvis immediately began discussing the case with my spouses attorney. As a result, Mr Purvis' ability to ultimately reverse our case to an uncontested status and achieve an agreeable settlement was successful. Mr. Purvis could have proceeded down a very lengthy and costly road given the circumstances. However, he put my best interests first and represented me very well with a harmonious outcome. Even with the unnecessary circumstances that surrounded my divorce case as a result of an irrational spouse, the cost to me was minimal and was charged based only on what was ultimately required. Mr Purvis responded very quickly to all of my email correspondence and helped me maintain a positive focus of the endstate. I was assured from the beginning this would be handled to my satisfaction and can attest to the fact Mr Purvis will put all his future clients best interests first. I want to thank Mr Purvis and his staff for helping me and will be sure to recommend him/the firm to other's that may need quality litigation or just advice regarding divorce proceedings. Thanks Dave!

Custody/Child support modification that was way out of line. Ex-spouse was in contempt of court and refusing my daughter visits

Mr. Purvis, with the Manely Law Firm, represented my daughter in a custody/child support case that was astronomical, vicious, cruel and unjust. She had poor representation in the initial hearing plus the fact that ex-husband and his family hid my daughter's son, my grandson, from her. My daughter ...and I saw right away that Mr. Purvis was caring and concerned and knowledgeable which put us at ease right away. We felt that we finally found an attorney who believed in us and the well being of our son/grandson. He and his paralegal gathered the facts and continually was in contact with my daughter searching, investigating and gathering facts. He demonstrated professionalism beyond what we had experienced with the previous attorney. I am also a court appointed special advocate for children, CASA, and have witnessed other attorneys in court room and fact finding, Mr. Purvis exceeded what I have witnessed from other attorneys. Even though he was retained by my daughter, I had researched law firms and attorneys for sometime Chatham and Effingham counties. Mr. Purvis always welcomed me an listened to what I had to share about my daughters case. I kept files and records, etc. on the events from day one long before we ever met. Previous attorney wasn't interested in my notes and files at all. Mr. Purvis took time and reviewed my notes and records and was able to use what records I had to see a clear picture of my daughters case and the ex's history and nature. The end result at the final hearing was a complete success and victory for my daughter. Child support was reduced 50%, visitation was revised to give my daughter the much needed time and access to/ with her son. As well as travel outside of our state which was denied in the original hearing. That attorney blew off as out of the question. Wasn't even going attempt getting that before the judge with any argument. There were a few other changes in her and my grandsons best interest. An amazingly, I don't know how he did it, now myself and wife the grandparents, were ordered by the judge for us to visit and travel with our grandson out of state. Our grandson is seven. I wish we could have found Mr. Purvis from the start. My daughter and I received superb representation and guidance that was only overshadowed by his excellent character. I think the best way to describe all was we were secure with him. I will recommend Mr. Purvis and I already have recommended him. Thank You.
