Biography
I am currently serving as a Representative for the Southern District at the State Bar of Georgia, Young Lawyers’ Division and also served as a Co-Chair for the 2016 Georgia Legal Food Frenzy. I am currently working with a team of attorneys through the State Bar of Georgia, Young Lawyers Division, to update the Senior Handbook for Georgia. The handbook is designed to provide information and guidance to seniors facing a broad array of issues. Specifically, I am charged with reviewing and updating the sections relating to Paying for Long Term Care, Nursing Homes and Personal Care Homes, Protecting Yourself from Crime, and Elder Abuse. The new handbook is due to be published later this year. In 2015, I was named “2015 Legal Elite” in Georgia Trend Magazine in the taxes, estates, and trusts category. In 2014, I served as Vice President of the Referral Powerhouse Chapter of BNI. I also served on the Membership Committee, as a Visitor’s Host and as a Mentor in 2014. In 2013, I was named “2013 Legal Elite” in Georgia Trend Magazine in the taxes, estates and trusts category. I also served as Chapter President and was named Member of the Year for the Referral Powerhouse Chapter of BNI. In 2013, I was a participant in the original First Responders Wills Clinic Program, a program founded by Brandon D. Elijah and Katherine E. Willett. As a participant, I supervised young attorneys who came to Augusta from across the state to prepare estate planning documents for police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel and their immediate family members. In December 2012, my law partner, Brandon Elijah, and I founded Burroughs | Elijah law firm.
