Loved Ms. Emily!

My divorce was a bit tangled. I had discontinued a previous attorney, so she had to start in the middle of a mess! She was great to work with, and let me pay my retainer in 2 payments. She is very knowledgeable, and also very caring. I would highly recommend her

Unprepared in court

Emily represented me in a modified custody case. She delayed the hearing twice because she had not submitted evidence. On the day of the hearing she didn't have a statement prepared and wasn't organized; pulling info from the original case that was no longer relevant arguments that got shut down ...by the judge immediately. Asked several "isn't it true" statements and allowed my ex to say no to all of them without providing evidence to the contrary. When I asked her why she didn't provide evidence that he was lying she said she forgot to file it but this would work . It didn't. She failed to represent my desire and interest. I told her what my desire was and she said the judge wouldn't know what that meant "whole child " so she didn't use it. When he was shooting down my case he used the words "whole child" yet she wouldn't. She missed an opportunity to express to the judge my needs here and therefore not a lot happened for my children during this proceeding. If you have an open close case without much need for a savvy lawyer she can probably get you through the process. But if you need true representation and someone to represent you, I would not suggest this lawyer. Disorganized, unseasoned, doesn't have intuition, and lazy (she didn't prepare)

I'm sorry that you feel this way as I have built my reputation for excellent legal representation both in and out of the courtroom by being thoroughly prepared and highly organized. I strive to satisfy my clients, however, facts of your case (or lack thereof) play a part in the Court's decision. As I recall, we had a full trial as well as mediation prior. I spent numerous hours preparing and meeting with you regarding your case which did not contain particularly compelling facts to modify custody as you wanted and desired. You received a full trial and the Judge decided. In over 13 years of courtroom experience, I still have not heard the term "whole child", therefore it was not used to the court. Please contact my office if you would like to address this further.

TPO case.

Emily is an outstanding lawyer. She answered any question I had and was able to give me the correct information I needed. She kept me informed on everything and gave me her best legal advice. I would recommend her to anyone. If I ever need a lawyer again, she would be whom I would choose.

Custody matter

Emily was knowledgeable of the court laws and her assistant was great at keeping me up to date on the proceedings of my case. J

Her knowledge only helps her. Not you.

Emily seems to be knowledgeable regarding law but is too concerned with her personal life to care about your case. She is very slow to respond. Charges more than her worth and is unapologetic for her demeanor. If you want to pay top dollar for a slow attorney that cares nothing about you, then she's ...perfect!

I'm sorry that this client feels this way. I've built my business and reputation by providing excellent legal service both in and out of the Courtroom.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
