I have been handling tax issues with the Internal Revenue Service and Georgia Department of Revenue since 1984. We deal with a variety of tax controversies, and have been very successful with innocent spouse cases, audits, wage and bank levies, offers in compromise, and collection appeals. We represent individuals and small businesses, including tax return preparers, handle sensitive audits, IRS and Department of Revenue appeals, challenge payroll tax and Trust Fund Recovery Penalty assessments, as well as cases that have to go to U.S. Tax Court and the Georgia Tax Tribunal. Additionally, we represent small businesses and their owners in a variety of matters, such as contract review, acquisitions and sales of business, and other corporate and LLC transactions. Lately, I have represented and advised accountants and tax return preparers who have been either audited or penalized by the Internal Revenue Service or the Georgia Department of Revenue due to negligence or mistakes in preparing tax returns for their clients.

Exceptionally thorough and detailed

He was amazing and really nice as well.

I received a notice from the IRS that I owed $90k. $55k from a 1099m from Freddie Mac plus another $40k in penalties. I was almost paralyzed. My case was such a cluster and nobody really wanted it. Yes I had lawyers that said they would represent me but Jeff Cohen is the only one I felt like understood all the troubles I have had and was ready and not afraid to go after it. He did warn me that it wasn't an open and shut case and I could not like the results. I have to say I was gearing up for this to take a really long time. To my delight and surprise the case was settled at the very first conference. The IRS attorney conceded our point and I owed $0. Having the right lawyer that knows what point to use to present your case will make the difference you need. I highly recommend you consult with Jeff Cohen. I was terrified and emotional and his calm compassionate demeanor gave me the strength to get through this daunting time. Call him.

A huge help!

Great Experience, Process and Outcome

I contacted Jeff upon receiving an exemption notice from the IRS. I didn't know what to expect, but Jeff explained the entire process and potential challenges. He managed all communication with the IRS and provided me with regular updates. In addition, he coached me through the in-person examination process and potential pitfalls. Jeff was excellent and I was extremely satisfied with his services and the eventual outcome.

The Best IRS Attorney in Atlanta

I reached out to Jeff in 2017 after receiving a dreaded letter from the IRS regarding an audit. Definitely not the type of thing one wants to handle on their own. I was distressed by the events and reached out to Jeff for assistance. He picked up the phone right away as I called him and explained to me the potential processes that would follow. Jeff’s demeanor put me at ease and after meeting with him and deciding to move forward with him as my legal representation, Jeff was spot on for every step of the process. Honest and trustworthy advice

You have a tax issues that's stressing you out and you can't figure out who is a trustworthy person to talk to just from googling the internet. If this is you, reach out to Jeff. I reached out to Jeff on Xmas eve and he impressively responded to me within 10 minutes. On our phone call, he listened to my issues patiently and gave me several helpful pointers on what to do to fix my issue (these are pointers my accountant never told me and I never thought of myself). After that, he honestly informed me that I can handle my issue independently without needing to pay for a lawyer. Time is money, and he was willing to spend time to give me advice for nothing in return because he genuinely wanted to help. I'd expect this straightforward, honest, and trustworthy approach from Jeff with all his clients and I would not hesitate to work with him. Thank you Jeff!
