About Brian

Learn Brian’s areas of practice.

Brian Cahn is a native of Cartersville, having graduated from Cartersville High School. He completed his college education at the University of Georgia in 1991, earning a degree in business administration. After graduation, Brian moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he attended law school and earned his law degree from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law, in 1994. With his law degree, law license, and a strong desire to return to Cartersville, Georgia to embark on his law career, he was invited to join a local law firm to assist local clients in need of bankruptcy advice. Since then, over the past 26-years, Brian has dedicated his entire practice to helping clients obtain affordable financial relief through creative and case-specific plans. With empathy and compassion, Brian has helped thousands of satisfied clients obtain financial relief through cases under Chapters 7 and 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. In addition, he has counseled many clients - individuals and businesses - to a fresh start by reorganizing under Chapter 11. Never wanting to recommend bankruptcy as the first or only option, Brian has helped countless clients avoid bankruptcy by spearheading debt settlement plans, and debt-related litigation defense, along with FDCPA and FCRA litigation, and foreclosure defense.

Brian is an active member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), the Metro Atlanta Consumer Bankruptcy Attorney Group (MACBAG) the Bankruptcy Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Cherokee Judicial Circuit Bar Association. He’s licensed and admitted to practice in all courts, state and federal, within his practice geography of the Northern District of Georgia.

Over the years, Brian’s aggressive representation has resulted in favorable outcomes for his clients, and has produced a multitude of frequently-cited published case opinions issued by bankruptcy judges, along with the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia. Brian has the highest possible Avvo rating of “Superb” based on combined metrics of client reviews, experience, peer endorsements, and career accomplishments. His case volume and experience litigating new and evolving issues has earned numerous invitations to speak at legal conferences and related seminars.

Distinguished speaking engagements include presentations to hundreds, if not thousands, of legal professionals at several continuing legal education (CLE) conferences: The 2007 Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal Symposium (presenting Recent Case Developments Post-BAPCPA), the 2009 American Bankruptcy Institute Trial and Litigation Skills Training Workshop in Atlanta, the 2012 Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal Symposium (Recent Developments in Consumer Bankruptcy), the 2013 Annual American Bankruptcy Institute Memphis Consumer Bankruptcy Conference (Recognition and Prevention of Abuse in Consumer Bankruptcy Cases), the 2014 Annual NACTT Meeting in Chicago (Issues involving Surrender of Property in a Chapter 13 case), the 2014 Georgia Bar Association Bankruptcy Section Seminar at Lake Oconee (“Life Happens” – Unforeseen Post-Confirmation Issues and Scenarios), presentation for the North Georgia Real Estate Investors’ Group (363 Sales, Leases, Motions to Lift Stay), guest speaker at Georgia State University School of Law (Reaffirmation Agreements and Motions to Redeem), etc.

While Brian’s career has revolved around finding legal avenues to help clients manage debt, his life in general revolves around his wife, Angie, and their two children, Elliana and Eric. Whenever UGA football, or golf or fishing can be added to the mix of life, then that’s considered a bonus.

Very cool, calm, collected personality. Down to earth and genuine
Brian Cahn is one of the few lawyers who sets an example for his colleagues. Very knowledgeable, always willing to help, patient and never makes you feel rushed. He seems to genuinely care about you as a client and to help you through the case in the best way he knows how. I really don't think I could have picked a better bankruptcy attorney, given that there are many folks out there who are more than willing to take advantage of those who need help the most.

Amazing attorney who cares about his clientele
Brian served as my attorney for Chapter 7 following a serious medical diagnosis and treatment; I never thought I'd need a bankruptcy attorney and therefore was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to work with him! He is extremely caring and quickly responded to my questions and concerns. I always felt Brian had my back and wanted the best for me as his client. He is competent and very down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and made me feel that my case was important to him. Thank you, Brian, for being my saviour throughout this process! I would recommend Brian Cahn to anyone who needed a bankruptcy attorney.
