Attorney Safiya Byars is a native of Kingston, Jamaica. As the managing partner of the Byars Firm she oversees the Firm's immigration, family law, and estate planning practice. Prior to creating the Byars Firm Ms. Byars worked as a senior associate with law firms in Alabama and Georgia. Now with her own practice, Ms. Byars strives to provide her clients with a personable experience. Ms. Byars is diligent with her work and she strives on providing her clients with the best legal representation while educating her clients on the best strategies to win their case.
Attorney Byars entered the United States as an international student to attend college where she was the first international student. Ms. Byars has successfully made the transition from a temporary student visa to permanent immigration status. Ms. Byars now uses her extensive expertise to assist her clients with their immigration, family, and estate planning needs. Ms. Byars currently serves as the chair of the family immigration continuing legal education program and the vice-chair of the immigration law section of the State Bar of Georgia.
In addition to her practice Ms. Byars routinely hosts legal workshop on legal topics that are beneficial to Atlanta immigrant community. While at the University of Alabama School of Law Ms. Byars followed her passion for community outreach by providing pro bono legal services and volunteer community service to the residents of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. At graduation Ms. Byars was presented with the Dean's Community Service Award and the Order of the Samaritan Award. Ms. Byars is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Montevallo.
