Representative matters include defense of conservation easements, captive insurance litigation, criminal tax matters, disallowed net operating losses, passive income losses, underreported income, trust fund recovery penalties, and tax promoter penalties. He assists closley held business with the purchase and sale of business assets and larger corporations on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
Anson is a regular author of tax articles and a frequent speaker on tax topics. He has been qouted on tax topics in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, the Washington Post, the Daily Tax Report, and Tax Notes Today. His articles have appeared in Tax Notes Federal, the BNA Tax Management Memorandum, the Federal Lawyer and the Journal of Accountancy.
He is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and the American Bar Foundation. He is ranked by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, and Super Lawyers. He is Martindale Hubbell rated AV Preeminent.
He is the Vice Chair of the Court Practice and Procedure Committee of the American Bar Association, a past Chair of the Atlanta Bar Association Tax Law Section, and a Barrister at the J. Edgar Murdock Inn of Court at the U.S. Tax Court. He is a former reserve officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps and a former professor of taxation at the Army Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, Virginia.
