Guilty until proven innocent

Mr. Mickey Williams was one of the gentlemen that represented me in my HQDA mandated separation board. My ex-wife is military law enforcement and used her knowledge and position to try to ruin my life, my career, my relationship with my kids and have me lose 22 years worth of benefits. Mickey was ...able to rapidly and accurately see that the statements made against me were fabricated. He preparation and experience made it possible for me to finally tell my side of the story. My board went on for over 13 hours. Mickey had taken the time to ensure that his examinations were seamless and had the knowledge of all the facts. His questioning of my ex-wife, an agent with CID, caused her to show to the board how little integrity she has. His direct questioning led to her exercising the right to remain silent and refused to answer his questions. Mickey's actions saved my career. I am so grateful to have found Capovilla and Williams. I would recommend them to anyone that is the victim of crime in the military. Mickey has a superb understanding of military law and his no-nonsense approach to a case ensures that the victims story will be heard. I cannot thank him enough for the peace and hope that has returned to my life.

He saved my life.

I failed the UA after coming back from the Christmas block leave. I was frustrated and did not know what to do. I knew I did not ingest THC, but there was no way to prove it by myself. No one was listening to me. My best friend in the army referred Williams & Capovilla law-firm for my case and I hire...d him right away. He offered me a free phone consultation. He was dedicated and willing to help my case 24/7. I only had limited time to fight but Mickey was able to handle the case within a deadline. He assigned his investigator to my case and interviewed witnesses in a timely manner. The rebuttal statement was well written and it turn over my commander’s mind. They believed me and dropped the charges. I am so glad I found the right lawyer. He is the best. Mr. Williams knows how to plan and fight the military case. Thank you so much.

This Law Firm Fights!

BLUF: I am an Active Duty, Senior Enlisted, member that was facing three separate rape allegations made by my ex-wife. After nearly a year of being under investigation, all charges were dropped, no administrative action was taken, and Command recommended no impact to my security clearance. This was a...ll due to the knowledge, intelligence, and strategy applied to my case by Robert Capovilla and Mickey Williams. First- If you have been brought in for questioning by CID for any allegation against you (especially sexual assault), STOP everything and obtain legal counsel. DO NOT speak with CID again without legal counsel. I was brought into CID and they read the allegations that my ex-wife had made against me. They were of no surprise to me, as she had made the same allegations to civil authorities who dismissed them completely within the 30 days. I was confused though. Was I being interviewed or interrogated? Had I been “arrested”? As I was being questioned by the CID agent, I noticed a pattern- he was asking the same questions over and over in different ways. At times, it seemed he/they were “on my side”, and then it became truly clear, that was not the case at all. At that point, I ended the interrogation and informed them that I was going to obtain legal counsel before saying anything else. I never spoke with CID again after obtaining legal counsel. I quickly hired a local attorney who had reputable reviews. His strategy was simple, “we wait until charges are preferred, and fight them in the court-martial”. This strategy did not sit well with me as I knew I was innocent. The days turned into months; the stress compounded daily. Then one day my wife posed the question, “perhaps we should obtain a new law firm?”. That is when we hired Rob and Mickey- perhaps the most important decision I have ever made in my life. Rob and Mickey’s firm was not local, so all consultations were done via email, phone conversation, and text. I was worried about how smoothly things might run with no face to face consultation, but throughout the lengthy process, Rob and Mickey never missed a beat. They quickly responded to all forms of communication, whether from myself or my wife. Like all military members, “hurry up and wait”, never sat well with me. I was at the mercy of the military process, and when it comes to criminal charges- the process is lengthy. Rob and Mickey were able to curb my lack of patience on countless occasions through sound advice. My wife and I had done tons of research as to how the military process works, but we never would have fully understood without the knowledge and expertise of Rob and Mickey. They would make strategical moves when required, and politely shelved my numerous impulsive requests when no action was necessary. I was innocent, and I wanted this behind me. Rob and Mickey had a genuine way of reminding my wife and I that justice would prevail. Trusting your lawyer(s) is the most important mental decision you will have to make in the process. My wife and I put our trust into Rob and Mickey. Putting your career and life in the hands of another person is extremely difficult, but we put ours into theirs. In the end, justice prevailed and all charges against me were dropped and no administrative action was taken. My wife and I will never be able to thank Rob and Mickey enough for their impeccable advice, knowledge, and perfectly sound representation.

The Attorney You Need to Hire

I hired Mickey Williams when I was accused of committing adultery. The command initiated an investigation and turned my whole life upside down. I had never been in trouble before, so I needed someone with experience in the process to help guide me through it. Mickey did his job better than I could’ve... hoped for. He began talks with the investigator and the prosecution and persuaded them not to go forward with any judicial action. He called every witness and received, compiled, and reviewed over twenty character statements. His draft rebuttal to the command was well written and used with no changes from me. He was beyond prepared to take on whatever came our way and his experience was a tremendous force multiplier. I've always been told to follow the advice of your counsel and I am glad I followed Mickey's to the letter as the results in the end of the process were very favorable to me. I highly recommend Mickey to anyone needing solid, no bullshit legal advice and representation. I will recommend him in the future to those that need it without question.

ROTC disenrollment

Our family consulted with Mickey regarding our son's college disciplinary action arising from his former girlfriend filing a Title IX action since we understood it could potentially lead to an ROTC disenrollment action. We hired Mickey early on, and he was with our son each step of the way to prov...ide guidance and strategy. His knowledge about the effect of the disciplinary action on our son's potential military career was invaluable. Mickey answered all of our questions and was well versed in military law. Our son really liked working with Mickey. We recommend him highly.
