An honest and superior lawyer

My legal situation began in Jan2020 and I was detailed military counsel and obtained a civilian trial attorney. As time progressed, my civilian attorney began to show less motivation to assist my detailed counsel and little to no concern for my upcoming General Courts Martial. I decided to terminate ...representation of my initial civilian attorney and reach out to Capovilla and Williams for assistance. After a brief conversation with their firm, I was convinced that they were the attorneys that would best represent me in my proceedings. During my initial contact with Mr. Williams, his responses and recommendations were passionate and he swiftly acted upon them. My experience interviewing other attorneys was contrary to this and most immediately discussed the financials of representation; Capovilla and Williams provided a path forward and discussed financials after knowing my situation. Throughout my journey to trial, Mr. Williams demonstrated honest feedback regarding all potential outcomes, remained transparent and honest. He worked extremely well with my detailed attorney throughout. His work ethic, dedication and sincerity, not only to my case, but to my family was more than I could have asked for. Mr. Williams worked late into the evening and on weekends to adequately prepare for trial ensuring to evaluate any and all possibilities we may encounter in Court. During the trial, his gut instincts were spot on and positively influenced the direction of the trial, ultimately surprising the prosecution. Mr. Williams balance between assertion and passivity were perfectly timed, resulting in positive influence of the prosecution and the courtroom as a whole. The severity of charges against me warranted an excellent Attorney, and I found that in Mr. Williams. I honestly believe that, had I stuck with my original attorney, I would not have gotten the favorable outcome that I received.

Call Mickey Williams at Shewmaker and Shewmaker!

The best decision I could have made! Steve Shewmaker and his team of highly professional staff undoubtedly worked well beyond my expectations to come up with the very best possible defense. He and his staff prepared several exhibits to include all of my career history, evaluations, fitness records, p...ictures and even a DVD of video evidence. All of this was organized into three separate binders for all the board members to have for their convenience. I was most surprised by the fact that he could be simultaneously reviewing the government’s evidence while not ever breaking his attention from the prosecution’s statements as he was always quick to call out the government whenever they strayed from the facts. I always felt like I was well cared for and well informed at every step of the way. I have two very important pieces of advice for you. The first is to consult with Shewmaker & Shewmaker and the second is to take their advice whenever they make recommendation. When everything was said and done I was awarded the justice I deserved, all charges dropped full and complete exoneration. Having the best defense attorney is worth every penny especially when your career is on the line!

Total bait and switch!

Run away before you waste your money! I hired this law firm to represent me in my court martial as a result of false accusations made by my ex. When they initially took my case, they were very confident in getting me a full acquittal as they could see through my ex's lies. Mickey advised me to waive ...the article 32 hearing which I was later told could've been an opportunity to have my case thrown out. At that time, he had all of the evidence for the case and had conducted many interviews and was still very confident in getting me an acquittal. He flew in for another hearing and felt even more confident watching my ex contradict herself as she couldn't keep her lies straight. Shortly after, he tried to pressure me into taking the plea deal as he said I had a 10% chance of winning. There was no evidence against me, just my ex's false and nonsensical accusations. He told me if I went to the court martial there was a good chance I'd be throwing my whole life away. At this point, I was $14,000 in on our $15,000 agreement when he suddenly changed his tune. I immediately fired him and hired another attorney who was surprised that he'd said that at all, as he said my case was an easy win. A month later, the new attorney I hired got me a full acquittal after only having the information for a month, vs the 9 months that Mickey spent representing me. He clearly will tell you what you want to hear until he's paid, then will change his tune. When asked about returning some of the money he was paid, he refused saying that he'd spent so much time on the case and couldn't. Mickey will tell you whatever it takes to get the most money out of you before pressuring you to take the way out that's easiest for him. Complete waste of time and money and I wouldn't recommend him.
