When someone is arrested or gets a ticket, having to deal with the legal system can be a difficult experience to go through. I have dedicated my adult life to helping people get through that experience successfully.
As a Harvard Law graduate and local criminal defense attorney with 19 years of experience practicing in Georgia, my "back yard" is primarily Cobb, Douglas, Paulding, and Cherokee counties.
I am dedicated to working hard to resolve criminal cases, ranging from felonies to misdemeanors and traffic court. While I respect that some attorneys specialize in certain specific charges only, I have always embraced the idea of being "cross-trained" and gaining valuable experience by handling and trying different kinds of criminal cases.
No matter the situation, I have a passion for defending individuals' rights, and for making sure you have an advocate in your corner at the courthouse. I offer free consultation, personal service, and reasonable fees.
I believe you should insist on hiring a local attorney who:
In your free consultation, we can discuss your situation thoroughly and privately. The best way to reach me is on my cell phone or by email. I will return your message promptly, and I will provide you with the high level of personal service that you deserve.
Please do not hestiate to contact me and see how we can resolve your matter successfully. I look forward to hearing from you!

Review
He was very caring. However, I did not feel like he gave it his all. He depended on his relationship with prosecutor to get my dui reduced instead of actually fighting for potential evidence. I feel let down and pushed to the side. I had to reach out to find out court dates and updates on footage. As...
While I have had many DUI cases reduced or dismissed, no lawyer can guarantee that kind of result. I am very up front with prospective clients that DUI cases are different, even for first-time offenders. The First Offender Act does not apply to DUIs, and diversion programs will not accept them. If the evidence is strong and the prosecutor will not agree to reduce or dismiss, and the client does not want to go to trial, the plea deal for a first-time DUI is the bare minimum conditions required by Georgia law, including no further jail time and a limited permit to drive. And I do appreciate the client saying that I am very caring, which is why I’m puzzled that she didn’t come to me with these concerns before. I gave my all on this case as I do for all of my clients. I treat everyone the way I would want to be treated, so I will take this to heart and be sure going forward that my clients know that I’m working as hard as I can for them to get the best result.

Keep searching
If you are looking for a good lawyer my advice to you is to KEEP LOOKING!!!! David Knoonz has good credentials but did absolutely nothing in this case. Please don't stop with this one keep searching
While I always appreciate feedback and the opportunity to address any concerns, this is a very frustrating review to receive. This is not the 47-year-old client, who was smiling and gave me a hug and a thank you when we resolved the case. This is his mother, who never came to court and was angry at the alleged victim and the DA for not dismissing everything. When I took the case, my client was in jail on two separate warrants which included family violence battery (with very serious injuries), pimping, and felony witness tampering. He also had a restraining order keeping him away from his own home. We were able to get him out of jail and back home. I stood ready to try the case if he wanted, but he insisted on taking the plea deal for release on time served and probation. Throughout this process, I kept his mother informed and had numerous calls and texts with her at all hours. For her to provide this review after all the time and effort spent in his case, I would say her anger is misplaced, to put it kindly. I fought for her son and we got a good result that he wanted.

Poor representation
Did a poor job in representing me in a family law case. Using profanity and other inappropriate comments in handling my case. Fired him immediately thereafter.
Throughout my 25 years of practice, I have prided myself on maintaining my composure in difficult circumstances, and dealing with clients and all legal matters with dignity and professionalism. I most definitely do not use profanity or make inappropriate comments. I would invite anyone to contact me for even just a short conversation, and you will see that I treat clients and potential clients with compassion and empathy, not judgment or harshness. I am here to help. Also this matter does not sound familiar to me, as I practice exclusively criminal defense, not family law. If any client or potential client has an issue, or if there is any possible miscommunication, I always invite them to sit down with me so I can discuss it with them directly. I give them my cell phone number and make myself available on weekends if necessary. The client's goals and communication are my number one concern.

Got us what a public defender would of got us for 2500
We hired this attorney 2 years ago And he got us the worst deal possible ! Exactly what a public pretender would of got us for 2,500 and what’s 500$ more to file a petition for early termination of probation!
This client appears to be upset that I quoted him a fee to handle a petition to terminate his probation early, even though my representation of him ended two years ago when he accepted the plea deal. He never gave me any indication he was upset with me, and instead wrote this review. Also, he never gave me any indication that he was ever dissatisfied with my services previously, and did not write anything negative about me before. In fact, both he and his family expressed gratitude at the time, and as you can see, he came back to me, wanting me to handle the petition to terminate probation. As for the plea agreement, it was actually a very good deal that consolidated several incidents into one case and most charges were dismissed. If he had taken the time to discuss his concerns about the new fee, and if I had known it made him that upset, I'm sure he and I could have worked something out. I would always encourage clients to sit down with me and work through any issue, rather than handle it this way. But I do appreciate the opportunity to respond here.

Will not fight for you.
I was involved in a domestic dispute. Accused of charges I didn’t commit. The victim, my wife, who recanted her statement to police couldn’t even help. Took a lie detector test and passed. Sat in court for a year forced to take a plea deal. Was in court all day on some events because David was late...
I do fight for my clients, and I fought for this one after the prosecutor originally wanted prison time. As the reviewer admits, he is angry because I declined to represent him for a new matter---a petition to terminate probation early---after it became apparent to me that this would create a conflict of interest. He chose to take the plea deal in the original case, and there had never been any indication of dissatisfaction with his decision or my representation. In fact, now two years later he sought my representation again. It was only after I respectfully declined representation, due to the conflict, that he wrote this review. Sometimes people second-guess their original decision later on, whether it's a plea deal or a trial. That's human nature, and understandable. But I have always fought, and will continue to fight, for each and every client.
