A Trusted, Successful Advocate for Georgia Registrants

As a Georgia registrant, I write this review with the utmost appreciation and respect for my experience working with Mr. Goldberg in addressing my "leveling" by the State of Georgia's Sexual Offender Risk Review Board (SORRB). It is my hope that anyone in a similar position will consider Mr. Goldber...g's representation - especially given the challenges in finding a competent, trustworthy, capable advisor in this area of the law. I first became aware of Mr. Goldberg after thoroughly researching attorneys with experience in registrant-related legal affairs, and specifically, experience in the SORRB "leveling" process. After reviewing prior cases, peer reviews, and client reviews, Ben surfaced to the top as someone with deep experience and success in working on behalf of clients on the Georgia registry. As many can attest, it can be a challenge to find a trustworthy and capable advisor who faithfully executes his/her role rather than overpromising in order to secure a paying client - most especially in this area of the law. From our first conversation, I appreciated Ben's candor, his insights into the Georgia leveling process, and his willingness to interact with me as a person with value. In a word...dignity. I selected Ben in order to assist me with requesting a "leveling" decision from SORRB. I had been on probation for several years and reached a point where I was ready to seek early termination of probation. In support of my termination petition, it was my hope to show how the State of Georgia had "leveled" me from a risk perspective. Ben quickly determined that SORRB had not yet undertaken a review of my case, and we had an opportunity to collect a host of supportive information and submit to SORRB so that they had a "well rounded" picture of who I am TODAY. Ben demonstrated deep knowledge of the information that was needed, and he directed me throughout the process of getting everything together. It isn't the easiest process in the world...it can be an emotionally difficult exercise to confront this matter, but Ben was there every step of the way to keep my expectations grounded in reality, and to counsel me on how I can best represent myself to those who would make a decision with such great consequence for my future. Much to our surprise, SORRB's initial decision was a "Level 2" rating. Ben responded immediately with a plan to appeal the decision, and he walked me through a structured, rational approach that addressed the initial rating. After submitting our appeal materials, the case was reexamined, and the Level 2 was successfully downgraded to a Level 1. Had I tried undertaking this process myself, I have no doubt that I wouldn't have achieved this outcome. It can be challenging to persist through emotionally wrenching experiences like the SORRB leveling process. I trusted Ben to handle my case with due diligence, and he vindicated that trust with "above and beyond" effort, with confidence persistence, and with the determination to honor his role as my counsel. Ben's professionalism, moral character and rational intellect have made an indelible impact on the course of my future, and I cannot recommend him enough to anyone facing the imposing challenge of addressing registry-related matters in Georgia.

Great Lawyer

My experience with Mr. Goldberg was exceptional. He will listen to you and tell you straight up if he can help your case or not. His professionalism was straight forward and he let me know honestly about my chances with my case. He stayed in constant contact with me throughout the process. He gave me ...sound accurate advice. And also when I was having a hardship in my personal life, he worked with me on my payments to him. He truly cared about me and my well being. I will say he is a great man. And I appreciate everything he did for me. I could not have hired a better attorney. Anyone who wants a lawyer that will fight for your cause and be honest and understanding of your situation Mr. Goldberg is the one to see. In conclusion I would highly recommend his services.

All cases closed. Time served!!!

My boyfriend was incarcerated in Cobb County Jail. After hiring one attorney that did not help much I found Ben Goldberg. I AM SO GLAD I DID. He knows his stuff. My boyfriend was on first offender probation for Driving on suspended license and caught the same charge less than 2 months after getting o...ut of jail. Ben went OVER AND BEYOND TO HELP US!! First he made sure that my boyfriend was properly represented, which he was NOT and that made all the difference. Ben was able to get records from the previous court cases to verify that he was not represented by an attorney which got the case dropped to a Misdemeanor from the 1st offender probation. He battled with the Prosecutor in my boyfriend's defense and got time served for the time he had been incarcerated as well as the probation case closed, so he is no longer on probation!!! He also got him a court date that same day for the new charge and even with discreapancies at the jail, Ben was able to get my boyfriend in court with very short notice. He is truly the BEST at what he does hands down. My boyfriend was looking at prison time for violating that first offender. Ben EXCEEDED our expectations! He is very personable as well as very easy to access by phone, email and will even text you!!! I recommend Ben Goldberg for any case...although I can guarantee my boyfriend would not be going to jail again. My boyfriend's new charge case that was turned into a misdemeanor was closed today!!!! I am sooo happy all this is over with and it's quite frankly due to Ben's expertise. If he had not gone back to look at those previous case,my boyfriend would still be in jail. I had spoken with several attorneys before hiring Ben and not one asked about my boyfriend being properly represented which informed me that Ben definitely knows his stuff. I have been thanking him the entire time he's been working the cases and honestly surprised at the outcome he was able to get us. Hire Ben, especially in Cobb county he knows law with his eyes closed. He communicates great and does EXACTLY what he says he will....and doesn't get annoyed by constant texting to ask questions which I am guilty of. Very great service overall. My family will be together after 5 long months... I can not express how lucky we are to have found Ben!!

Grateful to have been referred to Mr. Goldberg

I was very pleased from my initial conversation with Ben. I had been referred to Ben by another lawyer that was outstanding. He recommended Ben and told me to call Ben ASAP considering the situation. The last thing I wanted to do was to hire another lawyer, but I felt compelled in light of the advice... that was given to me. I have never met Ben face-to-face, but felt immediately comfortable with him and that he was well qualified and capable of handling the unfortunate mess that my family member was in. Ben was extremely professional, yet unlike so many other lawyers, he was personable, available, and kept me posted with up-to date communication. I have hired others that charge every time a text message is sent. Ben was pricey, but reasonable and did a fantastic job, especially given the "Catch-22" mess that was presented to him. He told me the truth, giving options, suggestions, and possible outcomes. He is well- connected in the Cobb county judicial system and is able to "get in on the front end" of a case and speak with the detective and the DA's. I am pleased with the outcome of the cases that he represented my family member on. I highly recommend him!!!!

"Ben agreed to join our office as an Asst. Public Defender in 2007 when he graduated from law school at Georgia State. He was one of the best hires I ever made. I had the pleasure of working with Ben over the following 3 years on both trial and appellate cases in the Conasauga Circuit P.D.'s Office. Ben has a keen legal mind and he is a great lawyer. When he was a relatively new Asst. P.D., Ben tried, briefed, and argued a case before the Georgia Supreme Court, and won reversal on this constitutional due process and statutory interpretation question. See McNair v. State, 285 Ga. 514 (2009). Ben went into private practice in 2010 and he is a criminal defense lawyer that I can recommend without any hesitation or reservation."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
